Need some info

Does anyone know if the new style Athearn SD40-2 power trucks (ATHG63912) will still fit the old Blue Box SD40-2 frame?

NEW Athearn HO Scale Power Truck/HTC. SD40-2/40T-2/45T-2 (1) ATHG63912

Don't want to waste my money if they don't fit.

Thanks

Greg

San Francisco Hamm's Brewery - 3

Ever since starting in model railroading, I have like large industry on a layout. Of course, my meaning may be a bit different than you may think. I like my structures to be proportional to the railroad models. What I mean by this is they have to have the look and feel of the real thing. Those of you that have read my blog have undoubtedly seen my model of an ADM facility. This structure dwarfs the rolling stock on the layout, just as it does in real life.

San Francisco Hamm's Brewery - 2

Well, an inquiry about the Hamm's Beer sign has sprouted another project. I seem to have a number of them in the works at any given time. I got a few of the LEDs I mentioned before to see how they would work out and they seem to be perfect for the project.

San Francisco Hamm's Brewery

Anyone out there that is old enough to remember the Hamm's billboard on to of the San Francisco brewery? I would like to model the Billboard in 3D with the glass of bear at the top. It is my understanding the the lights on the glass would light to make it appear that the glass was being filled with beer. I am going to attempt to model this but don't know the exact sequence.

Did the lights come on from bottom to top then stay on for awhile then all go out at once and start over? Or was there some other sequence.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Inspiration from Running Extra

I have to say that Running Extra is well worth the money. I was trying to figure out how I was going to do the piping from the distributor on the grain elevator I was building as it had 16 down pipes. They along came Nick Muff with the "Powell Feed and Milling" article. The results of his inspiration are shown below.

Thanks for the great article Nick.

ADM Update

I guess it is time to do an update on the ADM project as it is almost to completion. It has taken me about 11 months to get to this point. The only thing remaining are a few added details, mainly people and trucks, and the fencing.

The first shots a just an overall look at the project,, with the first photo looking from the ethanol facility and the second photo from the storage silos.

A new look for Humbird

I tend to bounce form project to project until one is finished. So, I work on the all of the layout, a little here, a little there. One of the areas I have been working on is the village of Humbird. I have been redoing the streets and made one part of the street a construction area.

Printed Road Correction

I would like to thank DRGW-488-Fan for pointing out that the county engineer made a drastic mistake when the road in the picture below was designed.

To help alleviate the issue until the county can perform a new design study my HO scale road crew has installed the following sign.

Jas's Printed Roads

When I say Jas's printed road idea I thought I would give it a try to repave the village of Humbird on my layout. I used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator to produce the paving images and printed them on heavy paper.

Here are a couple of images of the installed roadway. Bother the road and parking lot was done using his printing technique.

Thanks for sharing this idea Jas, I love how it turned out.

Wherarewe Cat

Wherarewe Cat resides on the east end of Wyocena yard. I normally like to scratch build but I have had this Walther's kit (International Truck) for some time and the location on the layout has changed a number of times before construction. Still have a bunch of scenery work to do around the dealership and the lights need to be hooked up.
