Website Tag Words to increase traffic by easing search?

I spoke with our IT spec at work and described the somewhat difficult task it was trying to find MRH using a Google search if a person is only putting in the normal terms, i.e., "Model Railroad Magazine".

Our techie said that it was painless to have the webmaster add to the "tag" words section of the website.

Could it be so easy?

Catching the Spamers before they get too far on MRH

I love MRH forums for the simple reason that people trying to Advertise here for free by starting a blog as a cover for their products last about 20 minutes and admin gets a dozen e-mails reporting them and then they are gone forever. I like that every member here looks out for the forums and as soon as some dork tries to place a hidden add on the forums they are reported and bam they are gone gone gone.

all forum posts seem to have vanished

Last night, the forum appeared to be working fine - and I was able to post a reply to someone else's query.

As expected, everything was visible, whether or not I was logged in.

Just now, I logged back in (to see if my answer had been any help) - and found that all the forum entries seemed to have vanished, together with their headings (whether or not I was logged in).

I don't know if this is due to maintenance, or something else. I don't want to start a panic, but just thought it best to check you're aware.

Regards,

Huw.

Download problems on Tuesday, 1/26/2010

The MRH primary download sever suffered some configuration problems on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010. This effected Magazine, Newsletter, and Adkit downloads. This issue appears to have been fixed sometime around 3am PST on Weds the 27th.

We apologize for any inconvience.

Reminder:

if you try downloading from the primary site and the MRH download wizard gives a timeout or failure status,

try downloading from the mirror site (use the two buttons on the wizard to pick primary or mirror download server).

Best regards,

Using PAYPAL

I just want to share an experience I had a while ago, not model related but with using payment methods that some of the advertisers use here in MRH. I have always used my credit card directly with any vendor I have  dealt with and never had a problem in years of doing so. Within one month of using the paypal option for a service that I had ordered, my card was compromised and items were ordered from two different vendors. It was a nuisance type purchase because however this was done, the culprit could not gain access to the product, just cause me pain.

Database issue this morning - had to do a restart

We had to restart our database server this morning because it went offline with a memory issue - but we're back now.

Nothing like starting the new year with a little excitement, aye?

Sorry for any inconvenience!
