Online Magazine

Thank you for allowing me to receive your magazine.  I've looked at the April issue, and read some of the reviews and blogs.  As a hobby store (family) owner for 20 years, and a full-time (now part-time) consultant to the FAA, I rarely had a chance to sit down and read the very magazines I sold in my store.  But there is always time to go online and read your magazine while waiting for a call or email to come in.

Thanks

Dan Veiga

Timtables and Model Railroading

I was recently asked a question about using a railroad timetable as a modeling reference. A friend of mine was interested in some information about modeling the Penn Central here in the northeast. He was interested in modeling  a specific region (the Mohawk Valley near Utica, NY) and wanted some information about the PC. So I gave him a PC timetable to browse through to see if that would help. It did, I was sure that it would. I wanted to share the story with all of you.

Spread the word!

Since Model Railroad Hobbyist is totally free and totally advertiser supported, we rely on word-of-mouth in order to grow.

To make it easier for you to spread the word, we've added a "Spread the Word" panel to the right side of our web site. Just type up to 3 friends' emails into the box, enter your email, and click "Spread the word".

We'll email your friends a link to the page you were on when you sent the email.

Be assured we DO NOT capture these emails you enter - the emails you provide are used only to send the "come and see" email to your friends, and then we discard the email. You can rest assured we do not keep your friends' emails nor do we share subscriber emails with anyone, not even our advertisers.

MRH hits 20,000 downloads!

In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 22, 2009 (Pacific Time), Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine reached 20,000 downloads of issue 1!

Our goal was to reach the 20,000 mark on issue 1 by the time issue 2 was released in April 2009. Rather than taking the expected 90 days, MRH achieved its 20,000 download goal in just 12 days - and the downloads of issue 1 continue!

Where is the top for a totally forever free model railroading magazine like Model Railroad Hobbyist? Frankly, we're not sure!

Please keep telling all your friends and modeling buddies about us - the larger our download count, the more interesting we are to hobby advertisers. And the more advertising we get, the more likely it is that we will be around a long time.

Also, if we get enough circulation and advertising interest, it's very likely we'll seriously consider going monthly at some time in the future!

So spread the word - we are now here, we're a great read, and we're forever free to download!
