You missed one option

I'm building a layout and run trains only on it.

Thanks, Pelsea - I edited the choices

Thank you for catching the omission!

Choice #2

I have a layout on which I run along with running on others layout and occasionally a club layout.  Oh, and I will be running on Michael Rose's awesome layouts in the future!

One other that you missed, I

One other that you missed, I am planning to have a layout but do not yet, and run trains on a club layout, which is my case. I voted on the closest one.

I will

Run trains on a horizontal surface.  You mean you need a layout?

So many trains, so little time,

Wow Rick......

Running trains on Michael Rose's layout will be cool. I'm sure he's got plenty for you to run but if you haven't already, that would be a nice excuse  for investing in a bit of N scale equipment of your own. Maybe a nice streamliner set?

I have a layout and I run trains on it.

Jim

So where do I fit?

Answer - I don't - short answer is none of the above.

with 5 layouts in plain sight, 2 of which are instantly capable of running trains, another layout stored folded in the next room under dustcovers a layout under construction in the carport, and a 2' gauge railway 20 minutes away where I drive trains regularly, but I do not belong to any club?

Please remember that all layouts don't have to fill rooms or basements. Try some of these for size http://www.carendt.com/small-layout-scrapbook/page-80a-december-2008/#winners The MiNiVerser in the runner-ups is one of the 5. For those who claim they don't have space to run "anything" on rails.

The breakdown train has been called out to re-rail your thread wink

I do not currently have a layout. Negotiations continue with the local zoning authority. So I operate on a friends layout.

I am getting ready to start building an Inglenook this year and operate on about 6 local private layouts and a club layout. I am lucky in Tulsa we have an embarrassment of riches in terms of operating layouts.

Free-mo here

I build dioramas that allow trains to be run through them :) No plans of my own layout but I count the Free-mo ones we do as a "club" for poll purposes. Even though each of our modules is individually built and owned. Another interesting poll might be layout size.

I already have N scale locos (including a sound E9) and rolling stock so that I'm ready to roll!
