Beisser Beginnings
Scenery is underway on the Grimes Peninsula and Beisser Lumber on my IAIS Grimes Line layout. The track has been painted and detailed, and the large Beisser Lumber lot is cut, installed and weathered. Late today I finished up NW 54th Avenue, which serves as the northern border of my modeled section.

Finishing Up
Final detail parts have arrived and allowed me to finish up the scene at Clive, Iowa on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.

Along the Line at Clive
Progress continues at Clive, Iowa on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.
The finish scenery pass is complete, as well as most of the detail parts. I'm still waiting for some additional items, most notably the traffic lights for the NW 86th Street and Swanson Blvd intersection, but I'm about ready to call this project complete.

NW 86th Street - First Pass
The first scenic pass for the town of Clive on my IAIS Grimes Line layout is complete. The area features the NW 86th/Swanson Blvd intersection plus the Swanson Depot Retail Center, the PDM/CB&I spur and the Clive greenbelt. It's a space about 12 feet in length, and is the first thing people see when entering the layout room.

Progress 2012
To wrap up 2012 I've created a photo tour showing some before and after shots on my IAIS Grimes Line layout. All scenes were completed in the last 12 months.

Watching Paint Dry
Scenic work is underway on Clive section of my IAIS Grimes Line layout. One of the first steps is to paint and detail the track. My process works well for the size of my layout but requires a few steps.

Sign Sign Everywhere A Sign
A quick photo tour of some of the road and lineside signs on my IAIS Grimes Line layout. It's the simple details that help define a layout's locale and era.

Embankment Deforesting
Quick changes and updates on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.
I redid the scenery on the north side of the Highway 141 embankment. North of Meredith Drive the greenbelt ends and the landscape turns into the classic Iowa prairie. While trees are not completely absent I overdid the original attempt. I ended up removing most of the tall trees and adding more low scrub and weeds.
