Westside Model company Brass 2-8-2 D&RGW K-27 HOn3

I just picked up this HOn3 engine The price was great. Original list $695.00 reduiced

to $400.00 reduced to $295.00 because I bought close to $1000.00 in other products.

The store owner told me the boiler was out of scale and that in 1980's it was recalled by

Westside because of this Defect he just never sent it Back. Well I have 3 of the HOn3

Blackstone K-27's the 461,455 Post wreck and the 454 all are DCC and Sound equipped.

The Westside model has the old style Slide Valve and decals for the Denver & Rio Grande

Controlling Scope and Downsizing Expectation

I am headed straight into a time and money desert.. and have begun to realize that I need to signficantly reduce the scope of my next project.. primarily to reduce the cost of the project. With the new baby due any day now, it has begun to sink in what paying for two kid's in daycare is really going to mean.. its going to be a time to worry about how we will pay the mortgage (seriously!).. not how I am going to build a model railroad.

Lets just consider the cost of rolling stock..

Märklin files for bankruptcy

Märklin files for bankruptcy in German courts -- a reorganization, not a liquidation -- but lets hope this is not a sign of worse things to come.

brief intro

Hello all, I just joined and am posting a brief intro. I live in Ft. Gratiot, Mi. and am modeling the CN/GTW from the Sarnia/Port Huron tunnel to Flint, Mi. (where they actually used to build automobiles). The time frame is 80's and 90's to present in HO. At present I have a 4X8, but am in the planning stage to expand (Have a large basement with nothing in it), using DC with block control ( I know, I know, but am doing my due diligence on DCC). I'm leaning toward CVP "easy dcc", but haven't made a final decision yet.

Time to fasten the backdrop, double sided tape?

Dear forum,

I'm searching for a method to fasten my 3 mm thick masonite to the uprights. It's around 30 cm between the uprights. I will fasten 6 boards. Every board is around 240 x 60 cm in size. Can I use double sided tape? If I use screws, what type should I use and how do I get rid of the screw heads before painting it? I also wonder how I get rid of the seems between each board?

Non Brass Steam Loco Chassis Article in MR

Some years ago, MR published a list and specs of all the then currently available steam locomotive chassis from the likes of Mantua, Bowser, etc. IIRC, they also included OOP Varney and John English. Does anyone remember that article and what issue it might have appeared in? I don't remember enough about it to have a snowball's chance in hell of finding it by searching at the MR website. I believe the article appeared in the early 80's.

Springfield Train Show photo essay

Hi all,

We (Fast Tracks and my CNJ Bronx Terminal layout) attended the Springfield Train Show this past weekend in Springfield, MA.

While there I managed to snap a few pictures of the show when I could sneek away from our booth.

This was a fantastic show!  Very big, lots of vendors and well worth attending.  If you could not make it, I have lots of images of the show.

new supplier

I saw this posted on another forum. There is a new company coming in a few days. They are coming out with 3 new high quality HO scale models.  Heres the link    www.exactrail.com/index.html.

They have already been running some ads, and they look real promising

Station Sounds

Can anyone direct me to a site that has sounds of station actiity. I plan to have a PC play into speakers while operaring with sounds like train departure calls.

MRH - First Issue

I just had time to go thru this first issue briefly, but it looks to me like it's a winner. That doesn't mean its perfect but for a first outing it sure comes close. But I am going to go thru it with a fine tooth comb over the next few days. I probably will have no complaints but I may have few suggestions that just might make the second issue even better.

So, here's to you Joe. You and your staff did a great job!
