Modeling general discussion

Ever seen a car painted like an engine?

I was watching Overhaulin' tonight and it got me thinking, "I wonder if anyone has painted their car like a train engine?"  Personally, the SP Hearitage unit 1992 (UP) would make a great paint scheme for a car.

Anybody seen a car painted like an engine?  Any photos to post?

San Diego Free-mo group

Anyone interested in forming a free-mo based group in Orange and San Diego Counties?

Utah Belt Videos?

Are there any videos of Eric Brooman's Utah belt?  I have searched high and low on the internet but can't find anything.

I have been fascinated by the Utah Belt (old and new) for years and would love to see a video of the entire layout.

Thanks,

Modelling Rio Grande 1980's manifest train

Hello!

Ever since I bought and watched Pentrex' Rio Grande DVD from 1986, i am impressed by this railroad, it's EMD locos and beautifull mountain scenery where D&RGW run trains.

Even though i model primary modern Europe in HO, I have a soft spot for US trains... My idea is to assemble one manifest Rio Grande train of 10-12 cars and two EMD locos... One of the locos has to be Athearn tunnel motor!

Wives in the hobby

In one of the discussions today, a point was made about wives in the hobby:

God took a chain saw to my Railroad

Last night while my wife and I were at dinner lightning struck a walnut Tree  20ft. from my new almost finished 30ft X 58ft railroad building and burned it to the concrete foundation a total loss. I didn't have insurance on the building yet and so I'm out a "S" load of money. I new things were going to good for me while the rest of the country was in financial turmoil.

Another book- a fine Read!

Just finished Irv's thread about John Allen...  Thanks, Irv.

But I wanted to add another book to the list- prose, this time.

Sam Posey:  Playing with Trains.

He reminisces (as we all do) about his 'career' as a modeller- and goes beyond... visiting many 'legends', the G&D, and Tony Koester come to mind... but there's more.

But best is that he's a very good writer, and it's a very fun read!

O GUAGE ....

So where are all the O guage guys ... ? I was reading of people on here getting all these cars and engines in HO and smaller scale and the detailing breaking right off and all kinds of problems . Good lord ... join the heavy duty ... big boys in O guage and it never happens .

So whats on tap for Movie Monday Tomorrow?

I've been looking forward to Movie Mondays for the last couple of months. Joes has finsihed one series that was very interesting so I wonder what is next? Personally I'd love to see more of his layout in action and more about how he used Google Earth to layout his track and scenery. I've watched his video but would like to see more of thise because It would go a long way toward making my task of setting up the Bay Ridge car float aprons and yards more realistic.

So, If you don't mind, please think of something along these lines for the future if not tomorrow.
