Shapeways and Concrete

I received my parts for half the concrete slab bridge I'm working on. It's based on a 32' PRR concrete slab bridge. I've crawled all over it and in the mud to take measurements and I'm very happy with the results so far from Shapeways. Everything fits!

$6 mini spray booth!

I thought this was neat, and maybe it will work for someone else out there.  Today I found a mini spray booth that's the perfect size for painting small parts (even a whole locomotive in N scale, but probably not HO).  The best part is, it only cost me $6!

It even comes with a lid so you can keep dust out:

need some help with my HO scale layout

ok so im kinda new to model trains not that new but this is the first time im building an actual scenic layout and i have some questions.so started out with an ho scale oval layout with an inner turn out that leads my trains into to the industrial rail yard.i glued the track to a piece of industrial grade foam board from home depot. i spray painted the board green to simulate grass before gluing the track, btw the track is lifelike track with black roadbed underneath it.

Isolated Railroads

As you all know, the rail network in North America, while operated by many different railroads, is all interconnected.  It is theoretically possible for a railroad car to be loaded as far north as Churchill, Manitoba, and then travel by rail all the way to the Yucatan peninsula.  However, within all that, there are a few railroads which, for whatever reason, don't directly connect with the greater North American rail network.  Largely for my own amusement, I've been compiling a list of such railroads.  This list only includes standard gauge railways.

Armand Mazzetti, the operator of The Caboose in Hartford CT, passes

Folks, just wanted to pass along the following news from The Caboose website:

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my father's passing. Armand P. Mazzetti passed away peacefully yesterday, September 11th, at Waterbury Hospital. Armand had a zest for life like no other. In his 80 years, he has positively impacted so many lives. His kindness showed no limits. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher and friend, Armand truly made a difference. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Thanks anyway LK&O
