how I learned to like MRH or... getting a better printer
Don't get me wrong, I've liked MRH all along, but.... I didn't like having to download and print from the various printers I had in the past. Until I could easily print items out, or more accurately, as long as I could economically and conveniently print articles out, I wasn't totally at ease with MRH. My last printer was a Kodak. Kodak advertised their printers as relying on much cheaper cartridges which was true, but these cartridges contained much less ink than the "ordinary" printer, like a typical consumer HP model for instance.

Uncoupler lever
Dear fellows,
I would like to make uncouple levers from scratch for my SD9E, SD45-T2 and some freight cars but I need the measures of the real prototypes or the H0 measures. I have been searching on the web but I wasn´t lucky. Does somebody have this information?
Many thanks in advanced!

Steps for Athearn SD40
Hi,
I'm working on an Athearn SD40, and I'd like to add etched steps. As of yet, I have not been able to find any. Please note that this is an SD40, not an SD40-2. (Athearn RTR, late 2015). Are there steps made for this model? Would an SD40-2 set work?
Thanks,

Frost on the pumpkin
Saw something cool this morning that I wish I could have gotten a picture of. Several black Corn Syrup tank cars in a yard near my home had frost on the top of the cars. The top and just a foot or so down the sides. Looked really cool, the white frost on the black cars. It'll be gone soon but maybe tomorrow or the next day I can catch a shot.

Small kids and trains
As the weekly photo fun showed, kids and trains can result in accidents--though that one wasn't the kid's fault. One precaution we can take if a kid might run the train (or some adults i know) is to set teh decoder so that the loco's maximum speed is suitable for the track conditions--almost all kids have a natural instinct to open a throttle wide. (Having a throttle in your own hand, with a finger over the track power button is not a bad plan, either; the yard doesn't need to be switched at 100 MPH, and a Climax running at 40 mph isn't right either...)
