Penn Lake 8: The Lehigh Branch (update 12/15/2018)
The Lehigh Branch is the primary switching center for the Bourbon River Sub. Major customers include a gravel quarry, cement mill, a brewery, publishing facility, and maybe a millwork plant. I plan on including some street running around the publisher and brewery.
Allagash - New Portland Branch Scenery complete
Hi guys and gals,
Some pics of recently completed scenery on the New Portland Branch. This advance includes all territory from the end of the big feed mill at New Sharon, all the way down the New Portland Branch to "Allen" and the mainline and passing siding at New Sharon.
I can't recall if photos of any of this were ever posted since the scenery was completed in stages. The passing siding at New Sharon was significantly lengthened maybe a year ago. It can now accomodate a 40-car freight and four units.
Warning extreme engine power inside
In 1959 a total of 19 electric locomotives started to pull iron ore to the coast in Sweden. These were at the time the most powerful electric locomotives in Europe (the world?).
Snapshots on the mountain
Work progresses steadily on the TSR. While the railroad is set in the 1990's in New England, a friend stopped by with his steam engines to do some track testing. I find there is no better test of track reliability than running various steam engines with different wheel configerations. I am happy to report that we had only 1 minor derailment. Things are looking good.
Short freight climbing the grade
A day of live steam on a 7.25" railroad !
Hi all ! ! !
Here is a video filmed on The White rock Southern & Ozon River R.R. in France. It is an american prototype layout layed with 7"1/4 tracks. It was the last run of this year on the layout and you will see in action a superb Baldwin prairie built by the owner Bernard ROCHE.
A great Day !
Bridge or No Bridge - That is the Question / Vote!
As the final landscaping work was happening, a question came to the fore-front; Does the foot bridge add to the scene, or does it appear to just be too much in the area. For this final photo the bridge has been removed. Last posting of the work in progress has the foot bridge in place. Votes either way will be welcomed.
