RGS Roundhouse Wall Molds Photos part II
Here are all the Molds I'll be using to cast my walls for my HOn3 Rio Grande Southern Roundhouse and I built 1 of the 6 interior Roof supports with scale lumber 12X12 up rights and 45 degree supports and 2X12 that will have nut and bolt castings added later as well as the 4X12's used for the base supports around each of the legs. Also The Base which will have the top of the pit area still to be cut out. see Photos below
The Penn Western RR
The MRH website pretty much exists to support the on-line magazine and as such does an excellent job. However, I got to thinking as I read my downloaded copy of MRH. I've been trying to come up with some ideas for articles that could be submitted to the magazine. One idea is the proverbial layout tour article. They are the easiest to write and the readers always seem to like them. I know I do.

First Wooden Trestle completed
I finished building the first wooden trestle on my O scale ACW layout. You can see the construction details here.

The Diamond River Valley Railway Co.
The Diamond River Valley Railway Co. founded in 1964 as a subsiduary of the Santa Fe Railway Co exists to serve the trackage that was demoted to branch line status after the Santa Fe completed the Holliday Tunnel. The tunnel was built to assist the railroad with navigation through the mountains and to speed up its service between the east coast and the Midwest.

Scratch Building The Ridgway Roundhouse and Turntable for MY Rio Grande Southern RR
Hello again MRH readers its October 4th 2009.
For the past 6 months I have searched for a High Quality Craftsman Model of the Ridgway Roundhouse for my Rio Grande Southern Railroad and have been unsuccessful! what I do have are Exact scale Drawings of most of every structure on the Rio Grande Southern so I decided it's scratch building time.
So far I have laid out the base of the 7 stall roundhouse and the three brick walls on the ends. Now you ask why are there three ends?
Adding to the EBT
My current layout was begun in 1996 when we moved to South-Central PA. I bought a ranch house with a decent sized basement which has yielded a 29’ X 45’ S scale layout. I’ve made several improvements over the years. The track plan as it existed in 1999 is at:
http://www.trains.com/mrr/default.aspx?c=a&id=1343. There have been several changes since then, but the basic footprint is the same.
stub switches
I like track work. For my new module Silver Creek I had to build stub switches too. Track is H0n3 code 55 for the narrow gauge and code 70 for standartd / dual gauge.
More at my Silver Creek site.

Diffraction Losses at Small f stops in Model RR photos
On another forum there was a discussion about diffraction losses in lenses at small f stops as applied to using Helicon Focu. So I decided to do a test to see how much diffraction loss my Canon 5D experienced with a 50mm Macro lens. These three shots are all shot under the same conditions with only the f stop varying. The three shots are at f32, f8 and f2.5. The original images shot in RAW and maximum quality jpg.

Painting The Rocky Mountains really stinks
I have had tips and names of books sent to me trying to help me in my attempt to paint the rocky Mountains from Ridgway to Ophir Colorado but they are all examples of paintings miles away from where My model is taking place. The areas I'm trying to paint are in the middle of these Mountains not in the distance http://backdropwarehouse.com/SkMtsGrp.htm#41 check out the Three San Juan Mountain sets the stations and the RGS railroad runs through these not 20 miles away even these Mountains are many miles too far away from what I'm trying to paint.
