Scenery - Structures
Little Gold House
I'm finishing up my latest wood structure kit - this one is by Mountaineer Precision Products (Kit #1) called "Historic Little Blue House - LaGrange, Kentucky". It's based on a real structure that is still standing in Kentucky. As you can see I didn't finish it in blue. I usually don't finish a structure in the same color as the kit shows and I prefer gold for this kit.
Demountable trees and shrubberies
While the leaders in our hobby have long moved on to "Supertrees" to create their verdant hills, I still find it expedient to use "puff ball trees" that is balls of polyfibre coated with coarse ground foam. I used to glue them in place with either hot melt glue or "tacky glue". Both certainly work.
Dining Room Table Mock-Up
At the link below; a mock up on the dining room table with 'Coal & Steam' buldings so far completed. In case you think this project is further down the road that I've let on, the living room wall has been replaced with a blurry sky from the Bridport area using Photoshop to help me gauge where I'm going with this project.

Locos - Rolling stock
Up to this point I have been a box model railroader. I have some AHM/Rivarossi loco models with tall flanges(steam). Can anyone give suggestions as to how to make it possible to run these locos on code 83 rail? Thanks gkn
Wood Structure's on model railroad
I have a question on putting structures on the layout. I have built some wood structure kits and wonder how to attach them on the layout. My fear is if I would ever need to move or remove them from the layout they may get damaged. I am considering attaching them to gator foam and then when placing them on the layout build the scenery around the foam. I am interested in your ideas.
Thanks
Joe

Progress on the Donner Summit - Backgrounds
I spent most of the week working on some backdrop paintings for my Donner Summit Layout.
I painted a nice backdrop for Grass Valley shown in these two photos. I haven't put the track down in this area so I just put #9 on (NCNGRR HOn3) on some track for these photos.
Prototype small grain elevators in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa
I've been taking photos of grain elevators for years, here's a few of the smaller ones that I thought would be interesting subjects for a model railroad.
