Question
A QUESTION
Awhile back I posted on my blog some photos of Walthers Steel Mill structures that I had built for a friend/client. They were shown there just fine for sometime, but now they are gone with nothing but a big blank box with some kind of icon in the middle. The verbiage is still there but no photos. What happened? Did I violate some posting rule?

Through The Looking Glass
How thick (or thin) is 0.007 inches? Not very darned thick. How much effort does it take to break a piece of glass 0.007 inches thick? Not very darned much.
Scratch built coaling tower
This scratch-built model represents my freelance version of the CNR’s reinforced muti silo concrete and brick coaling towers that were built during the 1920’s. I made a single silo to fit a layout that I had in the past that had limited space for a service area.
I used photographs of various CNR concrete coal towers to guide me with the construction and had to estimate the dimensions.
Simulation of hot metal and slag in a blast furnace cast house
I am modeling in HO. Currently experimenting with using leds to simulate the flow of hot liquid in a cast house.
The results thus far are shown in the pictures.
Ronny's Pawn completes the first block of Hammerjacks
Well today I wrapped up "Ronny's Pawn". I had several issues with the door beginning with some frustrating problems with paints and paint removal products. Later I managed to break some glass. So for the time being Ron has duct taped the broken transom window and when his insurance claim cheque comes he'll get a new door from Tichy, maybe go with a modern door and have some brick work done. But at least the utilities are going in well. Note the manhole cover from VectorCut in the corner of the B&W photograph.
i think i have a problem
i think i have a problem. i really like the BIG mountain scenery. i really enjoy seeing model trains snaking around large mountains and across large bridges. but my problem is that i cant seem to find much on the internet. ive seen a few great photos, like those of earl smallshaw (google him, great web page) and w.l. rogers' southern pacific's cascade line. but, there just doesnt seem to be that much out there. i like these for inspiration, im planning something similar for my modeling.
Trees! Of the Mike Rose variety in the May MRH issue
Anyone else notice the trees Mike Rose has used in his Kinter Milling article on the cover of the May MRH?
Very nice effect and a radical departure from the normal puff ball / SuperTree versions normally used for covering large background hills/mountains.
I'm very interested in his techniques.
