Scenery - Structures
Glue before or after painting - to do or not to do?
Hi guys,
I have a very simple and silly question, bit embarrasing really...
Over the weekend I have kitbashed my first structure, as opposed to building a kit via instructions. All has come out really quite well.
The structure is glued together for the most part bar windows, doors and roof which all need painting together with the main structure.
Do I paint first, glue later?
or...
Do i glue first and then paint?
The latter is more tricky but will parts stick together after painting?
Thanks!

One more update
Work continued on the intermodal terminal.
The asphalt unloading zone is completed and it only needs a little dirt around the edge where it meets the scenery.
Another update.
Again,
another small update.
The intermodal track with the ballast/dirt mix.
The final position of the Unnamed food plant.
The track leading to it.
Limestone block material for structures
What would be a good material to simulate limestone block with "natural" rough texture (not smooth block)?
For example, this train station (CNoR station in Thunder Bay) has 3 rows of block at the foundation, as well as some decorative elements.
HO Scale Car/Engine Shop Step 1: Square holes for square pegs
The first step to adding the Peco inspection pit to the Bachmann car shop was to glue up the basic pit. First, removal of the extra tabs on the two end pieces.
The pit glues up nicely. You'll see that the pit has molded in rail clips, and the car shop floor has molded in rail guides:
New project: HO scale car/engine shop
Time to snap out of my analysis paralysis. A number of years ago, I acquired a Bachmann Plus Car Repair Shop kit off of the Bay. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, it's a 3-bay metal barn with large skylights in the roof and molded-in track grooves in the base to add your favorite flavor of rail. I had purchased it with the intent of using it for a small shelf layout with the premise of a shortline operating over UP and BNSF tracks in northern Colorado.
BLMA a/c units
I have had a package of the BLMA window mounted a/c units. They are etched metal and assemble exactly as advertised. A nice little detail for my HO buildings.
The directions say once the assembly is done to glue where the tabs connect to the base. I am unclear about what type of glue to use.
And I am not sure what the do with the metal that sticks beyond the base. This would keep the detail from laying flat to the window or building siding.
What did you do?
