Prototypical Printing Industry Operations

This spring I added corner module to my layout and finally have room for an industry that my model railroad can serve.  I decided to put a printing factory along the back wall.  There are three dock doors spaced for 50' boxcars and now I would like to get into more detailed operations.

Station placement - Spur or Siding?

I'm designing a new layout and I wondered whether it would be more prototypical to have a passenger station located on a spur or a siding.

The siding seemed to be most realistic, except that a passenger train on that siding would then block a freight that needed it for a runaround.

I'm at an early stage of laying this out, though I have a track plan I'm happy with so it's really a matter of where I'd like to place the station.

Comments would be welcome.

NCE POWER CAB with WFD-30 connection

NCE POWER CAB with WFD-30 connection  ...I have bought the Wifitrax  wfd-30  board and have connected to my NCE power cab and download app "engine driver" on to my android phone and connected to the wifi and have scanned for locos and come up with nothing.

Handling cars at a terminal station

I'm working on the operational side of a just-pre WW2 layout I have under construction. the layout is essentially just the dead end half of a terminal station. Incoming trains have a loco, then a bunch of head end cars (express refrigerator, cans, newspapers, mail, baggage), then the passenger cars. Outgoing trains are propelled in by an off-scene shifter, passengers are loaded, then the train is drawn out by an off-scene loco. It is the incoming trains I am trying to get a handle on.

PCB for 2011 Crossing Grade and Flasher Circuit

I have zero luck in contacting Rob Paisley.  If someone out there has an extra PCB for the 2011 Grade Crossing Flasher and Gate Control Circuit I would like to purchase it, or get a photo of the backside of the circuit board..

Thanks

Semi scale wheels

I bought some Semi scale wheels (.08 wide) and found they ran well on normal straight track (83) but i found they fell in the turnout gap near the frog. Has anyone else have tried these and do they run thru the turnouts smoothly. And a question I have about smooth running is ..should the flange take the weight thru the frog or is that complicating the situation. By the way my normal steel wheels (.110) run fine thru the turnout.

Information on Rob Paisley

Does anyone have another contact for Rob other than is e-mail address that is on his web-site.  I have attempted to contact him about three times to purchase a number of his products.

Thanks

Dean

Would there be an industry here?

Hi everyone. I need to get one more industry onto my shelf layout but not sure if it would be correct. Here is my current set up.

I have an industry at A and one at B. There is room for one more at X but not sure if any railroad would do that as any cars there would need to be shifted to get to A or B.

Can you advise?

Introducing a Newcomer to TT/TO

The discussion on Lightweight Ops contained a number of posts about TT/TO and the point that it is not for novices. But we were all novices at some time. I wanted to explain a local approach to introducing new operators to TT/TO. This is not the only way and I am sure that others have different ways of accomplishing the same thing.

Cleaning thne layout

Hi Fellas, can any of you tell me the name of a good hand-held vacuum for cleaning up my layout.

I had great luck with Mama and was able to secure an extra room for the hobby. However, with the elimination of a wall and some drywall repair, I end up with some dust on just about everything.

It's not heavy but is very light and hard to see. I did my best to keep all of the mess at bay, but some dust did get through. I would really like to hear from somebody who had the same problem. Thanx again. Steve Klein
