CN's new GATX (GMTX) GP38-2 leasers - decals

Hello,

CN has put a big order into GATX for GP38-2's in taking leased operations from G&W Goderich-Exeter here in Southern Ontario as well as being power short anyway. I'd like to model one and I can't find a GP38-2 in the skeme and logo's, etc.

I did find this model on the GATX site proper:

Stripping Rivarossi and Branchline Passenger Cars

Hi everyone,

I am going to strip paint from a number of Rivarossi heavyweights and Branchline heavyweights for a passenger train project. What would you recommend for stripping these cars? 90% alcohol isn't cutting it for these plastic models.

Thanks ahead of time.

Weathering New Locomotive

I have a brand new Genesis FEC GP 40-2.  Love it, but that shinny blue paint has got to go.  I don't trust myself to take it apart, everything is working. I certainly don't have the skills exhibited in the latest MRH issue with the CSX unit.  I have had pretty good results with chalk and pan pastels on rolling stock, but taking on a $200+ locomotive makes me nervous.  Any advice of where to start.

Locomotive Frame Lights

I have Googled this subject using various words and phrases but to not avail. Even looked for night photos as a guide.  I am looking for information on where to properly position the frame lights on hoods and E-units. Presuming about the center of the trucks? Front and rear? On E-units?

I obviously have way too much time on my hands.  Thanks.

Bachmann Tender Trucks - Conductivity

I operate several Bachmann Spectrum steam locomotives equipped with DCC decoders, including a pair of the modern 4-4-0's, two of the decapods, and a low-boilered ten-wheeler.

I have recently found it necessary to hard-wire the tender axle wipers to the respective connection (red or black) inside the tender (to the decoder) in order to maintain decent electrical conductivity with the rails.

Santa Fe U23C Warbonnet Paint Date?

When were the AT&SF's GE U23Cs repainted into the yellow-and-blue warbonnet scheme?

Hubert's steel coil hoods ???

Can anyone tell me anything about the steel coil hoods that Hubert's has for their gondolas? Specifically, I am looking for prototype photos of the hood being removed for loading or unloading. Is it a one piece hood or did they mold it as one piece for the model? It occurs to me that it is two pieces on the prototype that are supposed to lock together when in place on the gondola? Anyone know for sure?

Build an Sn3.5 1870's 4-4-0

Have a "what-I-did" delving into the conversion of a new tooling oldtime H0 Bachmann 4-4-0 into an early Sn3.5 4-4-0.

Later web articles will detail and paint the loco.

Just in primer now as we need to build some cars and plan some layout.

Geared Truck - Short Wheelbase

I am looking for a geared bogie/truck that I can use in the mechanism of a small H0 scale rail car.  The prototype had a wheelbase of 5', that's only 17.5mm in H0 scale.  A truck of a 44 tonner has been suggested but they might be 6'6".

Can anyone suggest a model I might get such a short wheelbase truck from?  Once I get the truck I can think about how I am going to drive it.

A little help from my friends

I need some help with exploded views, wiring diagrams of a Tenshodo Brass SD 24 in HO scale. I got a call this morning from one of my club brothers who wants the exploded views, wiring diagram for the diesel listed above. If anyone has access to the information and can copy it and send it to me via email or even scan it and post it in the reply it would be greatly appreciated. George F is under the impression that the readers of the blogs and this magazine are a source of all information that is worth knowing, he has a rather high opinion of all of you.
