Locos and rolling stock

Model Railroading in South Korea 2019

I recently discovered that there actually is a growing model railroad hobby interest here in South Korea. Although it isn't easily ferreted out and trying to run searches for anything train related is very hit and miss. Having several months to follow a bunch of leads has helped. I did discover "The Train" hobby shop in the Yongsan area of Seoul near the train station there. They mostly carry N scale trains, but did have a few HO scale kits to build a Korail Class 8200 electric locomotives, one of which I purchased.

Composite Hopper Cars Use

Any of you know if those could still be seen in revenue service in the early 1960s?

Lionel HO?

I have online friends in 3-rail O and S scale hi-rail and scale. They kept talking about Lionel's re-involvement with HO. I decided to take a look. As expected, at this point I'm not particularly impressed with the rolling stock offerings that I saw, but this did get my attention:

Lionel's MSRP price point is cheaper than the other MSRP's that I've seen.

How to mess up a nice boxcar with weathering.....then try to save it....Rick Sutton

It was requested in a weekly photo thread that it would be nice to do an SBS (I hope that means Step by Step!) on how I weathered this boxcar.

Screw sizes

What is the size of the screws used in most brass imports for mounting the couplers?

Thanks,

Bachmann 44/70 Ton GE Cracked Gears - My Fix

Don't know if this has been covered before, but here goes.....

Front Range GP7's

I'm working on a deal to bring three of my old Frisco Front Range GP7's (that I built in the late 1980s early 1990s) back home to me after 20 years. One of them will need a short hood side handrail (but I don't know if left or right as yet).

CRI&P Caboose Hunt

So, I'm looking for a RTR CRI&P caboose to add to my stable and weather it. I've found Athearn cabooses that I would like to get, but are largely unavailable except for one supplier and I am unsure as to how reliable they are.

The cabooses I've found that are from the era I am aiming at (1955) are:

ATH74313 - RI 17601
ATH74314 - RI 17605
ATH74341 - RI 17603

Bachmann army stuff coming in On30!

I'm going to get one of these Baldwins for sure! https://resources.bachmanntrains.com/2019nmraslc/html5/index.html

Darn shame they’re doing the post-WW1 paint job as OD green as they weren’t painted like that. They were black with those markings.

3D Print: Bettendorf Truck HO

Started with a .skp file from the Sketchup 3D Warehouse, added some details, corrected some flaws, added holes for the axels and the bolster screw.  Now that I have the Cura print file saved, I can print a new truck any time I want in 18 minutes on my old Printrbot Play.
