Tip - making it easier to locate different types of ground foam

With my previous layout all of my ground foam containers were in a deep drawer where I couldn't see the contents of the bottles.  I first labeled the tops to make it easier to find them but then decided it would be easier to choose a bottle if I could see some of the contents.  I used some white glue to attach some of the ground foam to the tops and it is now much easier to find what I need.  When I use up a container I save the top and put it on my new bottle.

Sullivan Furniture - Harriman Plans

This is a HO scale board-by-board siding over matboard build using plans from Pat Harriman's second book "Early Wood Frame and Masonry Structures". This is a build of the thirty-ninth plan in the book, Sullivan Furniture.

Going UP the street

Looking for ideas or advise. I am placing a city building scene on an incline as the street goes up a hill. Naturally I would like the buildings to be level while the street goes up. Anyone with experience or suggestions on how to achieve this look.

Thanks in advance

"Wet Water" Formula

Hey all,

For those of us who are new to model railroading or even those who have been involved for many years but only just getting into scenery application then this video is for you.
Even if you have your own formula already for "Wet Water" you might enjoy watching the video anyway because I give a good close up demonstration of wet water at work!

That silver paint...

Okay, I know just enough about railroads and some of the structures/facilities involved that one should consider me 'dangerous'.  I know enough to get by, and I'm learning new things here and elsewhere everyday that get me towards a prototypical-looking layout.  My current project is a diorama to be incorporated into the layout consisting of an engine shed, and fuel, water and sanding areas.  My sanding tower is painted silver.  I've seen them black and I've seen them white and I've seen them silver.

Painting Micro Engineering N Scale Tall Steel Viaduct Towers

I'm ready to start painting the assembled towers of a N-Scale Micro Engineering Tall Steel Viaduct.  Does anyone have any tricks/suggestions on how to paint the interior surfaces of the tower superstructure?  I'd like to be able to paint them with an airbrush, but I'm not sure how to do it without applying too much paint or otherwise making a mess.

Any suggestions for accomplishing this would be greatly appreciated.

Drill Bits

Working on putting some Walthers Cornerstone kits together and the kit I'm currently working on calls for using a #60 and #75 bits.  Now I have a lot of different drill bits for bench work and stuff like that.  Do I need to go buy the special bits for hobby or is there equivalent like a #60 is a 1/16" bit?

Chooch Flexible retaining walls

Has anyone used the Chooch Flexible retaining walls? I am in need of a large retaining wall. Probably about 20 of the Chooch pieces. At $11.00 each, that will be pricey. I would like to know how well the will adhere (to masonite), if they will unstick at the edges and curl up, if they will work with Magic Water or Envirotex for a river abutment and not warp or become distorted. Any help would be appreciated.

B&M N Conway Station

Hi

I am in the process of building an HO model of the Boston & Maine N Conway New Hampshire RR station.

I am looking for drawings or blueprints of the station.  It was designed by Nathanial Bradley, a prominent Boston architect in the late 1800's. It is unique Russian Victorian design and on National Preservation List.

3D Printing of an Interlocking tower - need advice and/or suggestions

I am attempting to create a 3D printed model of an Interlocking in my home town of Vandalia, Illinois.  It watched over the crossing of the Illinois Central and the Pennsylvania railroad back in the day.  This crossing is going to be part of the signature scene on my model railroad.  I thought about trying to scratch build it, but wanted to give 3D printing a try as its the up and coming thing.
