CVT Turnout's the Joe Fugate way
Joe,
I am looking again at the list of tools and materials you used to build your turnouts with the the CVT tie kits.
The link to the bulk rail at CVT is a dead end and I can't find any bulk rail on the Central Valley site. Is it just that I am near sighted and confused, or does CV not sell the bulk rail anymore?

Dead Bolt turnout switches
This question has probably been posted before but just wondering if there is a link or an article to the dead bolt manual switches for turnouts that Joe uses on his Siskiyou line. I have seen the manual turnouts article in the 2nd issue of Hobbyist magazine using dowel and fishing line, but I think I like the dead bolt turnouts better.
Thanks
Brad

Bachmann HO scale DDA40X
Is there a good sound decoder for the Bachmann HO scale DDA40X? If so who makes them?

inexpensive linkage for Switchs & Turnouts
while reading about turnouts and looking at manual linkage I noticed something. If you use thin non flux coated gas welding rod it costs 1/8 of what brass rod at the hobby shop costs. You will need to go to a Welding supply store to find the inexpensive rods. They come in 3 foot and 1 meter long pieces and then you can cut them to size needed. I just thought of this a second ago. I will explore this further as I'm headed to work as I type.

Building Fast Tracks Turnouts is Addictive
this past weekend was the Labor Day weekend in the U.S.A. and alot of us got a three day weekend. With all this Time off I decided to build the HOn3 turnouts and Duel Gauge Turnouts I need for my yard at Ridgway on my RGS Railroad. Saturday after lunch I got all my turnout building supplies out and soldering Iron plugged in and heated up. I Have already built a half dozen duel gauge turnouts in the past months and I started building the narrow Gauge turnouts. The first was pitiful I used the wrong Point form tool and the Frogs were all wrong.

Speakers to fit the Atlas speaker mounts
The new Atlas chassis (specifically those used by the GP38/39/40 series) comes with a built in set of speaker mounts in an A-frame shape. If you don't actually order a sound unit the mounts have a weight installed.
Since I have not yet gotten any of these locomotives (2 are waiting at my pusher), does anyone know what size speaker fits in these mounts?
Also, on the speaker front, what is the difference between 4 ohm and 8 ohm, since the new Loksound Select decoders can apparently use either one?
Thanks!
Need Help with Reversing Section for DCC on my Track Plan
See attached .pdf file for my track plan. I have this track plan wired up and tested using an old DC power supply. Workes fine. When I added the last part of the track, to the layout (Red color-revereing track section), as expeced I will have a short.

tortis switch machine wiring
I have recently purchased #4 and #6 turnout jigs through fast trax, seeing your web site Tim was the best. first of all I really love them. this also is my first attempt at making my own switches, some come out, some did not.
N Scale Dual Mode DC/DCC Decoders
I am researching Dual Mode DC / DCC decoders (both sound and control only) for a magazine article.
I don't want to debate the merits of Manufacturers including DCC capability in their products, just to get an understanding of how "Dual Mode" decoders are working in the field.

Fast Tracks Success!
Well, after watching my N-scale engines bind up slightly as they went through the fog/ guard rails of my # 6 code 55 turnouts.. I finally solved the problem. At first I had thought that my wheels were out of gauge as some engines ran through fine and all of my cars run though fine. After taking numerous vernier caliper measurements of the back-to back surfaces of many wheelsets, it finally dawned on me to get my NMRA gauge and use the flangeway gauge to check things out.
