Track and electrical/DCC

Lighting

I'm looking to simulate day/night operation through dimming my 120v LEDs(3 banks of lights)Can an arduino and the Crydom MCPC module be used for this scenario?

simple keep alive

Hi All,    I'm using economi decoders with a plug in keep alive cap and was wondering if anyone can recommend a non sound decoder that uses a plug on keep alive cap. Preferably 2 amp stall for my S scale engines.Plug and play don't mattter , I'd rather hard wire it in.....DaveB

Passenger and self propelled passenger cars on a 42" radius

I am looking forward to tearing up this curve that used to connect to another module and replacing it with a 42" radius.

I wanted to get an idea of how my cars would look like on a 42" radius so I got out a piece of Peco code 70 flex track to take a look.

The Oil Electric doesn't look that bad on it.

Low Out Put from DCS 51

I am getting on 0.4 v dc out of my DCS 51.

I have:

1. Checked the meter

2. Checked the input to the dcs 51 — it is 14V

3. Reset the decoder  — twice

4.  Made sure the output connections are good.

Still get a .4 V reading.

Any solutions?

JMRI and a new MacBook Air

The old MacBook Pro finally died and I have a new 2020 MacBook Air running OS 10.15.7 Catalina.

I have a Digitraxx DSC50 with a Loco Buffer II and use a USB A to USB C adapter to make the connection to the Digitraxx.

I downloaded JRE, JMRI ver 4.20, and FTDchip for the drivers.

When I open Decoder Pro to do the setup the only serial port connection options I have are:
None Selected
cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-port

Track Nailing Tool

Does anyone have knowledge of and/or experience with track nailing tool? ...possible different tools, and usability??

I'm looking at laying track on both cork roadbed, and in some cases no roadbed on top of 3/4 plywood.

I had been considering (and still am) adhesive caulking products,...but I'm not so sure about their 'accuracy and time to cure' properties, ....and all the weighting needed.

External Sound

Hello all,

I am building a switching layout and I will only be using one engine at a time on the layout.  Currently all but one of my engines are DC only but all are DCC ready.  My layout will be in one room in the basement.  I also have exercise equipment in the same room so I already have a sound system in place...when my son works out we know he is working out.....

(manual) Control of Crossovers,...doubles & singles

Control of Crossovers,...doubles & singles

Exploring ideas for 'powering-up' crossover turnouts. Of course many of us would be well aware of our use of a double crossover on our layout planning (it just stands out), ….but perhaps less aware of the number of single crossovers we have designed into the plan. That was one thing I recently discovered while looking into controlling my turnouts,...I have a lot more crossovers than I originally recognized.

Trade Zephyr DCS 52 for DCS51?

I have owned all three Digitrax DCS Zephyr sets.  I currently have the DCS52 Zephyr Express and am wondering if someone would like to trade their Zephyr  Extra DCS51 for my Zephyr Express DCS52?  Digitrax has changed some of the programing parameters of the DCS52, compared to the older DCS50-DCS51.  The trade must include all manuals and literature as I would include my DCS52 information.  If interested, please PM me.  I am looking to trade even-up!

Athearn Loco Upgrade

I purchased an Athearn U33B loco from Goodwill, model# 3486, and was wondering if it was upgradable to DCC? If not, I can remove the electrical components and use it as a dummy.

Thanks.....
