Track and electrical/DCC
Bachmann HO 44tonner PCB (DCC)
Hey guys,
I have this new little creature, after having three DC duds..those axle gears splitting on the lot even the replacement trucks. (I'm looking at buying a 3D printer and hope to make my own,but that's another story)
The new loco finally got going and runs fine, BUT I have thought about replacing the factory decoder with a spare DZ125. I can see the points on the PCB to attach the wires onto, but I thought, why not just buzz off the entire PCB and wire it directly?
Wiring speakers
I am fitting a sound decoder to an Athearn GP-50 . (Blue Box). The size of the shell is too small for a standard speaker so I decided to fit a twin mini speaker set.
My question is, do I wire them in series or parallel?

Expanding a NCE PowerCab
Question.
I need/would like to expand my NCE Power cab, but I’m having trouble finding the correct information.
My need centers around adding another plug in plate on the opposite side of my layout, and the ability to either move my Powercab to that plate, and/or plug in an additional throttle.
With that in mind, I’ve identified that I’ll need the following things
Signal Logic
The attached photo shows a proposed signaling plan I want to use. I'd like to control the signal aspects of S1 & S2 via turnout activation (not detection circuits.) I'll be using DCC (NCE PowerCab) and Peco turnouts and Peco switch 'machines' with push-buttons. Can anyone help me in designing a circuit(s) that would provide the desired signal aspects (BLMA 3-color LED N-scale signals by the way) with the turnouts set as described? Thanks!

Electronic Components
Does anyone know where to purchase components (ie: diodes, resistors, transistors, wire, etc) beside Radio Shack? There was a day when you could walk into an electronic supply store and pick up all these items for constructing an electric project.
Location of Gaps
I'm planning my N-Scale road and will be using DCC (NCE PowerCab.) Attached is a portion of the track plan. Can anyone advise me where to cut gaps in the rails and what circuit breaker/auto-reversing circuits I should use? I will be using Peco turnouts and crossing. Any advice as to Electro-Frog or non? Thanks for your help.
Beginner Question
Hi all
As a starter I'm trying to find my way into the DCC world.
I'm planing a layout with at the beginning one and maximum five loco's. The turnouts will be equipped with hand trows so I am looking for a DCC system that only needs to command 1-5 loco's. The loco's will be H0n3 from Blackstone or similar.
I had a look around and the Digitrax system looks good to me.
Would be the DB150 5 Amp DCC Command Station/Booster with Intelligent AutoReverse
Simple question on DC sound
This is probably general knowledge, but do any DCC modern diesel sound boards work on vanilla DC? It looks like a Tsunami or two do, but I wasn't quite sure of the details from the write-up.
Yeah, I know the suggestion is sacrilege, but my budget does not include going DCC just yet.
Wiring Traffic Gates
I need help to wire up two road gates at a road crossing. The layout is Lionel with 2 main parallel tracks using 3-rail track. The layout has 2 power packs, one for each main line. I need the road gates to operate (gates go down to block traffic when a train approaches), one gate on each side of the two main tracks. The gates need to operate if there is a train traveling on main line 1 or 2, operating the same gates. Lionel sells mechanical pressure switc
What's between the packets?
Hi everyone,
I am a new kid to the hobby—MRH subscriber for about 4 weeks. I’ve recently retired and intend to build a small, portable, L-shaped HO layout. I have some weird ideas about designing four or five units that resemble kitchen wall cabinets... Set up the wall ledgers, then anchor the “cabinets” to each other and the wall, etc. But that’s another discussion…
