Gauge issues with Code 100 Shinohara 3 way switch

While relaying my staging yard throat to a better layout I elected to use one of my Shinohara 3 way switches as it's geometry fits well with the location. Staging is laid with Code 100 Atlas track and Shinohara switches.

Econami decoder programming

This is probably a dumb question for you dcc pros but I'm not.

I've installed a new Soundtraxx econami in an older Life Like Proto SD45 and I can get it to function in address 3 but can't get it to program to the 4 digit diesel #.  I program it on the program track using an MRC Wireless system. I've installed other decoders with success but for some reason I'm forgetting something here.

Digitrax Zephyr mounting ideas

Hey guys I lack creativity ideas really bad.  I have the Zephyr and I am trying to figure out how to mount it so that it doesn't move. I am mainly just using it for the power to the track as I have an external throttle plugged into it.  My facia is on the front of the layout with a curtain hanging down below to hide the contruction junk LOL.  I just don't know or figure out how to permanently mount it.

Top-mount ideas for servos?

Anyone have methods to top-mount servos for turnouts?

I am NOT looking forward to crawling under the track platform and working upside down.

Hand making switch machines with door lock actuators

Has anyone tried to make a switch machine using 12v DC door lock actuators?   I'm going to give it a shot as they come with two screw mounting holes, the wire, and a bracket (for $2.00)  I think I can mount this below the sub-roadbed and use as the bracket as a fulcrum with the wire to move the points.   I bought some reversing switches ($1.67) to control it, and the door locks come with the advantage of shutting off power once thrown in either direction.

SoundCAR Programming Help

I need some help with a programing issue with my SoundTrax SoundCar.

I have my sound car mounted under the layout as a stationary sound decoder.  It is wired into, two Rail Master speakers in series spaced on either side of my layout.  I have a bedroom sized around the walls layout.

Everything works when I Intelligent consist it to the locomotive, I am using at the particular time, except for the breaking sound feature of the sound car.

(All locomotives have SoundTraxx Tsunamis)

Suggestions on wiring a long reverse loop

I have my auto-reverser finally and am ready to wire up another reverse loop. This one however isn't just an isolated track, it has a couple of turnouts within the reversing section so I'd like to get several feeders to the track. Should I run a sub-bus of 12g wire along the track in the reversing loop, and run feeders from that? I don't think my 12g wire will fit into the auto-reverser. Would you run from the existing bus to the auto-reverser with smaller wire, then from the AR to a new bus with smaller wire? Or should I just use my feeder wire for the whole thing?

Can I trim Micro Engineering Turnouts by the Switch Points?

Hello Everyone,

I'm fairly new here, and in the process of designing an HO scale switching layout. I was hoping to get some feedback on a track issue I'm facing while designing a yard.

Micro switches for wing (out) gate

On my swing gate, I'm running two tracks over it. Do I need to use a micro switch on each end of each track at the ends of the gate which would be 4 for 2 tracks, or can I use 2 micro switches for both tracks, one at each end of the gate? Also, does it matter which rail has an insulated rail joiner put in on each track on both sides of the gate? I don't understand the wiring of this all too well from the bus wires to the track, to the micro switches, so any help on this too would be appreciated. Thanks.

Power supply for led's

On my layout that I'm building, I want to put led lighting in and outside of all my structures. I would really like to have a common power supply to power the structure lights without having to solder resistors in for every led. So the question is how many volt and amp power supply do I need? And how many led's can be supplied by one power source?

Thank you
Scott
