TMTV general discussion

Review of houts on steam weathering

1. Generally notch 8 are very good. This time the host talked too much about general weathering philosophy.
2. as houts was weathering i want to understand his technique, listen to him

Watching alan houts weathering steam

Is there somewhere a list of paints he is using in each step. I know what he is using overall. What is he using in each step?

What's happening to TrainMasters TV content?

The material on TMTV has been deteriorating over the last couple of months.

Some of the content duplicates items that are in MRH & MRH-RE.  That means I am paying for the same material twice.

The QAT sessions may be interesting to those who can tune in live but going back later to find useful content means sitting through over an hour of mostly talking heads flapping their lips.  That format is essentially useless to me.

If TMTV does not improve in the next couple of months I will not be renewing in July when my subscription expires.

Need better search function

Looking for “airbrushing” nothing came up on the TrainMasters TV website.  Had to switch to “airbrush”. Why?  Please get new search tool.

Question for Roger Chrysler — cutting grooves in boxcar siding

I have been watching your series on Work cars.  You remove the plastic molded ladders and replace them with Tichy ladders.  The tool you recom, end works very well  How do you cut the grooves to match the existing grroves in the siding?  Special tool?

Loaner or Crew Member?

I have a topic here that has long been burning in my mind. That is, are you a "loaner" who prefers to build and operate your layout by yourself, or maybe with one other person, . . . or do you function best when you are with a "crew" of workers and operators???

I have participated in the hobby with both types and after many long years I can with confidence say that I do NOT like operating with a crew. Many of you operate with half a dozen operators or more. I know some of you that won't (can't) operate with less than ten or more operators.

Need better search function

Looking for the work car videos by roger Chrysler - search does not finf them under his name. There has to be a better search function.

Submitting to TrainMaster TV's MyLayout

One of the segments you'll see on TrainMastersTV is called MyLayout.  Our host, Jeff Shultz, presents a video that MRH readers have shot of themselves and their railroads. Go back and search for MyLayout on the TrainMasters TV website and watch some of them to get a better idea how the MyLayout segment works.

If you would like to be featured in a MyLayout segment, here's what you have to do:

For those who research the prototype using Sanborn Maps....

...is there any online access to them that is NOT the Library of Congress?  I have been trying all afternoon, and I keep getting an error page saying the LOC website is experiencing technical difficulties.  And just to make sure that it isn't my end I reset my connection to the internet.  Even tried using different browsers, still same error.

Search function frustration

I really like the variety and quality of the segments - but the search function is very frustating. I am trying to find the videos on brake rigging with pierre olover. I search “brakes” and it does  not come up.
