I have been sitting in the train room and a basic question came into my mind. The room has a seven foot ceiling and my rail top will be at 48". With a one foot valance to block lighting from the layout will the two foot remainder be enough viewing opening? The widest point is 2.5 feet deep with most of the remainder from 16" to 24". I chose a 4' railtop because I can roll around in my desk chair and every thing is at eye level for me. The most rise that track will take is about 2". Some scenery will rise higher to about 2' above RT. I would appreciate your input, opinion or whatever help you can give.

More than ample. Although with 7' ceiling I would consider making the upper valance less than 1' just for visitors that are over 6' tall. For a tall guy the bottom of the valance would be right at eye level with your arrangement.

Alan, I too am six foot but hadn't thought about where my eye level would be. I will make the valance shorter and adjust it to the lighting. Thanks for the heads up ( no pun intended). That's what I like about MRH, every body and any body will pitch in and help. Thanks again.
