The Road to Mastery
Charlie's continued ability to reduce outstanding modeling to simple steps makes me think more and more, "Even I could do that!"
And that's the way we can aspire to asymptotically approach the mastering of our craft: step-after-step along a guided pathway, with side jaunts into our own experiments from time-to-time.
BTW, double thanks: I don't often find occasion to use "asymptotically" in a sentence anymore.
Charile, As usual, excellent
Charile,
As usual, excellent work! I have to ask...forgive me....in Figure 23 is that grass growing up between the ties between the rails? I love the article and will refer to it when doing work on my layout. Thanks!

Like the detail around the tree
I like how you added the cedar shavings around the base of the tree and the overall finish of the scene. However, I would have like to see how you got to that point. I am assuming we shall see this in future installments?
Up the creek
Nice result. The last photo is super realistic.
I like your short articles
I really like the short format of your articles Charlie, with plenty of pics to show what's happening. The series on the Oakhill section of your layout, and the one evening project articles, have been excellent. Even though I won't be planting cedars on my Australian layout, it's the methods, tips and overall appearance of the scenes that are inspiring.

A great How-To
Good stuff as usual Charlie. I also like the detail work around the base of the tree and the stack of rail. Cedar shavings, paper tie plates and scrap lumber really bring up the realism for me. You sure can't go wrong with a tree from Canyon Creek. The final photo is fantastic! Very realistic.
It just looks right
Really appreciate the subtle little things that you do to create the total scene here Charlie. The last photograph of the completed scene is awesome. The colors, arrangement and level of detail all just look right on the mark.

I may just use your article to build my next Creek.
I like most of your Ideas a lot and I like some other modelers ideas as well as my own and will use a combination of all.
You did write a very good article and I Hope you Keep doing this Up the creek series in the magazine because it's without a doubt a 5 Star part of the MRH Magazine no mater what the subject may be.
