My new FWWR Layout

OK guys, an introduction to my new layout. There were a couple of things that I was missing on my old Everman Layout.  I thought all I wanted to do was switch cars, that has changed because of my Grandkids, Grandpa lets run some trains. I could not just let them loose in the room because of the way the old layout was designed. Also the FWWR has acquired many SD class locomotives, I wanted to include these somehow into the layout. No staging, I found out I wanted this.

Everman no more

Well unfortunately my Everman Layout has been demolished. I was happy with my layout but my operation ideas have changed.

The old layout was great for a switching job but the prototype only ran a train in this area. I really want to get into operations for multi people and that just wasn't going to work. If I could get people over there was only one train to run and that was no fun. I also wanted to be able to run the FWWR 6 axle locomotives also. They also are having more foreign power over their rails and wanted to add that capability.

So down it comes:

Crossroads for sound

Looking for some help and advice from you guys. I model a small short line here in North Texas called the FWWR. My mediums size HO scale layout is based on an industrial park that they work. They use small GP class locomotives, GP7U, GP38AC, GP38-2, GP38-3, GP40, GP40-2, GP50 and 2GS14B. So I am trying to build up a fleet of custom engines to use on my railroad, Atlas, Genesis, Kato, etc. I currently have 2 locomotives with Tsunami's installed, one factory and one custom. I have collected several Tsunami's for future installations on the bench.

Adding the Penisula for Whirlpool

Well spent the last couple of weekends working on the layout. Here is the new peninsula for the Whirlpool lead.

Update on my Everman Layout

After a long drive home from the St Louis RPM Meet and having a lot of time to think about my current layout, some changes are a coming. The original plan was ok but their were some things giving me some problems.

Busy August so far

At the beginning of the month I did a road trip to St Louis, MO to attend the 2015 RPM meet in Collinsville, I had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones. When I arrived at the meet Friday morning I thought I got there early, about 9:15 in morning. There was a line, but being that the door had just opened was not unexpected. What I did not expect was walking into the room and most of the tables were filled up and the floor was full of people. This was my second time at this event and it did not let me down.

Shapeway Parts

I recently purchased some EMD tall stacks for a FWWR project im working on. The parts are slightly gritty. Somewhere in the past I thought I saw something about how to prep 3D parts, Can anybody help me out?

My vacation at Everman

Last week I took a little vacation for myself. Wednesday I drove down to the FWWR main office at Hodge Yard. After going into the office and talking to some personnel about my situation and was able to talk to a dispatcher. He took a couple of minutes to answer some questions I had about the Everman area. The FWWR had created a small office down there so crew could pick up paperwork for the day.

Layout Progress

Well here are some pictures of the progress I have made over the last few months. The last of the old layout has been torn out and replaced and most of the peninsulas have been built. Track has been started so things are beginning to look like a railroad again.

This will represent the entrance to the Everman Park:

Around the corner we go to the yard:
