Minimaids and Minivacs
Does anyone know of a company that makes/sells a mini vac for cleaning the layout buildings etc.? So far the only thing I've found are attachment tool(s) for a Eureka or other full size vacuum. I'm looking for a small, hand-held, rechargeable tool to get dust and cobwebs (some of the spiders have taken over the brewery on my layout) off buildings and trackwork without sucking up people etc.
I know that Radio Shack sold one many years ago, but they are out of business her in Carlisle, PA. If you know of a vac or a good alternative, let me know.
Berrett Hill Conversion
I just converted switch machine controls on my existing layout to a recessed, lighted button type from Berrett Hill. An easy 10 minute operation and one where I will start from "scratch" as I work on the new West End of the railroad.
Need Wiring Troubleshooting Help
Ok, here goes:
1. I am using a Digitrak System.
2. I have power to the track (my testing lamp lights on both sides of all switches currently installed).
3. Using an H10-44 switcher (4 axle) to test trackage, the DCC engine receives its signal and starts out at 10% of power.
4. On some (but not all) switches, the engine pauses like it is thinking what to do next; does not lose power (lights and sound still present); and then either proceeds or proceeds if I increase throttle to a faster speed setting.
Progress
Relief from all the political "noise." Progress on the railroad with the small hill and tunnel at the far West end of the railroad. Will be building and wiring out from there over to the bridge connecting both halves of the railroad.
Cerulean Dreams
"AND ON THE THIRD DAY WORKING ON THE RAILROAD, GOD PAINTED THE SKY USING A MINI-ROLLER AND ARTIST BRUSH FOR DETAIL AREAS."
Summertime Work
WEST END PROGRESS! Been workin' on the railroad. Benchwork is almost complete with two more sections to go.
Electrical Frustration
OK, I 'll bite; after being so careful and testing track conductivity as I went along, I now have a gremlin that has popped up. Track was laid and joints butted; soldered where needed; drops made; insulator joiners used on the inside rail of fturnouts etc.
Figures and Scenery Items
I am looking for some help identifying sources for HO scale figures and scenery detail items. I have repeatedly searched the web and the advertisers for figures that I have seen in various photos both here and on Facebook. But I do not find anything but the "standard" Presser and Woodland Scenics people and building interior items like desks, chairs etc.
