Last Call

The downsizing list, complete with photos, is available for those interested in non-eBay pricing/bidding for items excess to my needs. I will be sending individuals who have responded to my email (calhounpa@gmail.com) the complete list on Saturday. Whatever stock is not sold will go to an eBay auction at the end of next week.

List is in MS Word format and all pictures are jpeg's. There should be something for everyone and everyone's budget. Thanks for your consideration.

Static Help

Either operator or equipment error is all I can figure. After two tries, my static grass is not standing up. I am using the following:

1. Grass applicator from Micro-Mark with 2 D-cell batteries (brand new) with a strainer type screen.

2. Enlarged the holes with a hat pin and have good flow when "tapping" the plastic arm.

3. Using a finishing nail as a ground into the cork or foam area to be applied.

4. Using Woodland Scenics static grass flocking material.

Downsizing

Ok railroad fans, starting next week I will be downsizing my engine and rolling stock roster of both DC and DCC items. BEFORE I put things on eBay, i will provide a list so interested parties can contact me.

Dents and Dings

I'm sitting here fighting a cough and cold viral flu now for the 14th day. Time to start feeling better and work on a project I can manage while recuperating. This brings me to my scrap box and a couple of cars that are less trucks and/or missing other items and not deemed repairable - the perfect vehicle to practice on!

Grass Help

Followed the directions and may not be doing something correctly for the static grass applicator. First of all, the Scenic material is kind of clumpy in the container and doesn't seem to flow freely. I am mixing two colors to achieve the look I want. Is there something I have to do to break apart this material?

The Gauntlet

An interesting article in my latest issue of the Nickel Plate Road Magazine on Interlocking Rules showed a sidebar piece that included a diagram. Part of that diagram showed a bridge/gauntlet arrangement with an interlocking tower on the approach.

This brought up several questions in my mind. Does anyone make a gauntlet track? (I run Code 83) Can one be made using a combination of flex/straight/switch frogs without having to have an engineering degree? Does anyone have one on their layout and experience in this type of trackwork?

Much Grass But Not For Smoking - LOL!

Ok, here's the drill. I got a static grass applicator and the colors I thought would go well.  I have existing scenery with very low ground cover and was told that I could use cheap hair spray over the existing stuff and apply the static grass over it. Is this correct? Or do I have to scrape off the old and start over? I assume that I'd have to remove the trees and replace them once the grass was installed "underneath."

Buffalo Line Operating Session

Here is a link to the Pennsy layout operating session I noted in the pictures of me operating the yard engine on Steve Mallory's Buffalo Line. Rather dramatic, but that's what the photographer had in mind.
