NMRA Convention news-Atlanta 2013

If anyone in the MRH universe is at the Atlanta, GA 2013 NMRA convention, it would be great if you could let us know here of any new products or services of interest to model railroaders. I know most of this kind of news will be at the National Train Show nest weekend (July 19-21), but if you catch anything before then, please pass it along.

I would guess that Joe Fugate and the rest of the MRH gang will have reports for the next issue (Aug.) of MRH magazine, but earlier is better.

Minneapolis?

We're planning a family trip to Minneapolis this summer.  The trip is actually planned around a show in Fargo, but we figured since we were close, we'd go on to Minneapolis and go to the zoo (we've talked about going to the zoo for many years based on WolfQuest - a video game simulation of taking on the role of a wolf in the wild that my kids love that was commissioned and developed by the zoo) and Mall of America.

Is there anything train-related around the area that might be of interest to me that people can recommend?

MRH visits Rapido Trains at the Ottawa Train Expo

The Model Train Expo in Ottawa, Ontario is eastern Canada's largest model railroad train show, with almost 5,000 visitors attending this year. One of the sponsors was Rapido Trains Inc. MRH spoke with Dan Garcia about some of their new products.

MiNi Mod-U-Trak - High Wheeler 2013

The High Wheeler train show was at Harper College, Palatine IL this last weekend.
An excellent N-scale modular layout called mini mod-U-trak was on display there.
I took these pictures on Saturday.

Whew! - that was FUN!

We had a great time (well, I did - the rest will have to chime in here).  Folks that brought modules - Mark, Bert, Eric, Adam and myself - Doug came without, :) plus we had two more folks come by to see just what it was all
about (I am sooo bad with names!) I think it was Brian and Allen.

I got there early at 9:00 to open the room and set up a couple tables and chairs, measure and lay out the space for the Meet-N-March.  The PUD community room is 43' x 34', just in case you're curious.
