O scale - Updating some Atlas/Roco cars

SJVRR's picture

Hello all,

I've some old rolling stock from Roco (1970's production for Atlas) at home and I would like to modify them to obtain updated cars for my little project of US layout.

They are good bases. I've compared an actual Atlas boxcar with a 70's one: the body is exactly the same: I was surprised!

Hi everyone,

I've made lift bars to uncouple the car, using thin weathered metal rod and pieces of styren

I've adapted San Juan Car air hoses

And I've prepared thin painted cardboard for the lettering. I use Clover House dry decals

I've decorated one side with #2359

and the other side with #2357 because on my layout, I'll can see only one side (always the same side will be visible). If I turn the car, I'll obtain a second one!

I've extracted hardcopies from today's videos. Views taken from my French layout but this part of the scenery can match US landscape before to have a US one...

Stock cars and cow turds

Very well done Jack! As always you make the simple basic older atlas/roco O scale a masterpiece!  All that is needed are some cows! And perhaps a slaughterhouse and meat market.

Excellent weathering and convincing cow turds too.

Bravo.

Thank you Pierre

Many thanks to you Pierre!

I don't know if I'll find some space on my layout to make structures for the "from cow to the meat in the dish" processus.

Of course, I'll try to make a stock pen (the nice side of the thing!)
