TMTV HO scale calipers

The recent showing of TMTV showed some neat tools for making scale cuts in styrene to simulate siding. A set of calipers made for HO scale was shown. Where can these be found now, since Micro-Mark is sold out and  discontinued them?

Layout update and upgrades. Pictures and video

I have been working on my layout to make it even more bulletproof.

I replaced commercial turnouts with handbuilt ones with fast Tracks tools.

I replaced my PM 42 with a PSX-4 and a RRAmpmeter hardwired into the circuit.

I added some backdrop scenery.

Also added a temporary extension for the tail track at the Christina Mine.

Thanks for looking.

DCC and electronics help requested. Wiring up a PSX-4, RRAmpmeter and want to select which section I can view.

I am looking for some answers to questions about wiring up an electronic circuit. I am installing a new DCC Specialties PSX-4 to replace my existing PM 42.
I also want to wire up, in-line, a DCC specialties RRAmpmeter. I have seen this done on a friends layout and he put the meter between the boosters and the PSX 4 circuit boards.
This way he could read in an instant, the amps and volts coming out of his booster and going to his PSX 4 circuit boards. He had two of these wired up for his two boosters, his layout had four electrical blocks.

Here is his set up, and it works great.

Track upgrades before ore shipping season

Taking a cue from my favorite MRH columnist Mike Rose and Marty McGuirk, I have been slowly rebuilding my layout for the better. I have shut down the operations so I can replace the turnouts on the lower level. I have been taking up the Atlas commercial turnouts and replacing them with hand built ones to NMRA standards with Fast Track tools and lessons.

RBHX 3 - Chance meeting with prototype leads to model of a modern salt hopper.

This is the story of how I built RBHX 3. I wanted to do a few cars for an upcoming RPM meet, and I also need a few more cars for my NMRA AP rolling stock certificate. This was a fun one to build as I could actually see where it is delivered too each month. I hope you enjoy. Feedback is always welcome, and I will try to answer any and all questions.

Cricut Explore, making signs with Blue painters tape

My friend Greg Dahl built a nice Pikestuff engine house for my layout. I told him not to paint it since I would do that in my company colors. He brought it over for a New Years day operation session. He did a great job, and after the session I started in on the pant job. I finished the roof in stainless steel. and painted the sides a primer grey before putting on a few coats of yellow.

Scratch Building a Southern Pacific Depot.

Here is the story of how I built a classic Type 23 depot for my friend. I enjoyed the process and learned a lot along the way. I was inspired by information from MRH and TMTV. Thank you for looking and reading.

Tall Tale. Halloween version. The case of the mistaken Ole Torgeson. A tribute to the Estrella and Sonora Grande.

This is my poor attempt at making a good story like Verne Niner creates. I need more of my layout finished, but for now it will work. This is best enjoyed while eating candy corn and peanuts.

--------

Halloween eve in northern Minnesota. Lena was getting tired of Ole just sitting around and drinking beverages. She told him to go get a good job. So Ole went down to see if the local ore mine could use some help.

Passenger operations on NYC/D&H layout. Photos and video.

My friend Mike is building a layout based around the NYC/D&H operations in Albany,NY. The centerpiece of his layout is Albany Union Station. The era is 1968-69. The trains are exact consists, with the exception being the express cars, which varied daily. We have been working on the passenger operations before bringing the freight side into the mix. The track and DCC wiring is all done. The motive power and cars are all running. He just needs to finish up some car cards and waybills.
