Flexible Drywall for Fascia and Backdrops On30 Mushroom layout

Well, I have decided to install 1/4" Flexible drywall for my On30 mushroom layout. If you watch the video I will explain why.

Drawing of UTLX Narrow Frame Tank car wanted

I'm looking for some scale drawings of a Narrow Gauge "UTLX narrow frame tank car". Anyone know where I might find such a thing? I am thinking about scratchbuilding one or several.

Thanks,

Rob Teed

Backup your files

Started up the laptop tonight and it is making a terrible racket. This laptop has 100 gigs of photo files and almost as much in videos. Perhaps most of the files have already been backed up but I'm not sure. I have another external HD with 75 gigs free. Just went through and deleted  25 gigs of unnecessary files so I have enough room to backup the recent old west photos. Still worried about the video files. It might not be a big deal as I think its the cooling fan,

Anyway, If you haven't backed up your files, No time like the present!

LansingModel Railroad Club open house tomorrow Sept 28 2014

Lansing Model Railroad Club had an open house last weekend. Turnout was great and everyone had a fun time.

Here is a video of the layout. We meet Thursday nights so if you find yourself in the Lansing,Mi area  stop in and take a look around.

UPDATE:

We are having another open house on Sat 9-28-2014

Why Masonite

Why is Masonite used for the backdrop? I purchased a few sheets and installed a couple around my peninsulas but I'm thinking that it is a mistake. It would seem to me that sheetrock will work just as well and I can hide the seams easier/better using joint compound. Just looking for some input before I go and screw it all up.

Thanks,

Rob Teed

Another update on my On30 layout - Benchwork Mushroom design

Still plugging away on the benchwork. Posting these videos so folks can get an idea on whats involved in building a mushroom. Its starting to take shape to a point that you get a good idea of how it works. I must say I'm really glad that I decided to go with a multi-layer design. its going to make for a lot of mainline running.

Ti Launchpad and Model Railroading

I ordered two Ti Launchpads for $4.30 each with free shipping. At that price even if I used them just to blink LEDs for grade crossings its well worth it.

Another update - On30 Layout - Framing the Mushroom
