Personal journal (editorial or commentary)
Check out my blog
I already have a running blog at Gentle Model Railroading . Please check it out.
I live in Ipswich, Suffolk, UK and have two model railroads on the go at the moment.
1. HO in the shed. Based on The East Tennessee and West North Carolina (The Tweetsie) although it is not narrow gauge. It is a shortline with just three locos and set just post-war in a run down state. This is just at the track laying and wiring completed stage

This site is designed to promote the hobby of ferroequinology. It provides an opportunity to show the development of the "Lyon Valley Northern": an HO railroad featuring CN and BNSF action in the West. In addition this blog covers all the MR and railfan adventures of the author.
The sun actually came out on my way to work this morning!
Yep, the sun actually made it's appearance shortly after I got on the road at 6 AM. That meant I could actually see the bay from the Belt Parkway and the Verazano Bridge. It was a beautiful sight to actually see a few ships on the water for a change. Unfortunately one can't see the Bay Ridge carfloat aprons from the bridge or even from the adjoining Brooklyn Queens Expressway but you can't have verything.
Haven't had much time lately...
I haven't had much time to work on the layout due to and unfortunate turn of events.
According to the weather report, snow is coming...
Yep were going to see some more snow tonight. Those of us in Northeast have had enough of it. But this one isn't supposed to be anywhere near as bad> But for those communities who have been socked by the weather, mainly those in New Jersey and south even a little bit is too much.
I have to open about this. . .
In the past, I have scoffed at the following in model railroading:
1) 3 rail O gauge, especially running at 200 scale mph and hitting those small radius curves and almost derailing.
2) N trak modules. I just have a hard time with the 3 main line tracks each separated by about 200 scale feet.
3) Circus trains.
Don't cross when the train is coming!!
This happened today in acworth GA. a small town just outside the Atlanta Metro area. Amaizing video caught as it happened. Gotta love these new cell phones, they are everywhere. Follow the link there are two videos there; one from before and one from ater the devastation.
Springfield Train Show, 2010
So I just got back from the Springfield MA train show - yup, it only closed a half hour ago, but we left closer to 2 pm, after a 9AM start.
The show seemed a bit smaller this year, but it's hard to say exactly why. At first attendance seemed down, most likely due to the 0 degree temperature, but the parking lot was very full when we departed (and the day had warmed up).
