Polar Bear Railroad - Layout tour
Hi,
here I will show a few pictures of my model railroad empire.
The Polar Bear Railroad operates a small line through the mountains. Most of the region is quite inaccessible, as well as being declared a nature reserve with restrictions on population density, cars and some other things. Basically the railroad is the only carrier for people and freight.
One of the smallest branches caters to a sawmill and a small passenger station. (This is the only part that is presentable).
Although this is N scale, my photo skills need some serious work...

Display cabinet/case ideas!
Hi folks,
I'm gonna build me a display case, for all my engines, caboose's, cranes, special cars etc!!
I purchased two 3/4" boards, that are 12 X 96. I am going to rip and cross cut them, to end up being 8 pcs. of (aprox.)6 X 48 !
Then I could have 5 shelves, plus a top, and two sides. I planned on having two tracks on each shelf. the rear one elevated about 3/8" - 1/2" or so.
Spectrum Climax On30 Advice
Hi all,
So, it seems i bought a Spectrum Climax On30 loco in an online auction... Now normally im a HO modeller, so i have a few questions about this loco that i was hoping the lovely community here would be able to answer...
1. Can anyone recommend a decoder for this loco? It has an 8 pin socket already. I know that the soundtraxx decoder will fit it, but im tempted to try a different brand of decoder for this loco. Can anyone advice on what to look for?
bridge protection??
Need some answers from those in the know
i'm planning a new layout and would like to know how this bridge would be protected, the bridge will have a single road on it with traffic lights at either end control traffic, also there will be a single industrial track down the middle.
Would the railroad have signals on the bridge or just have control of the traffic light,ie; stop and set them both to red so they can cross.
New MTH GE Evo vs Old Lionel transformer help please
I just purchased a new MTH GE Evolution Premier engine. The only other engine I have ever owned is from the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer set I got back in the mid to late 80's. This is where the controller/transformer came from as well. This new engine doesn't run on the fastrack I have built it. It will sometimes turn on and go thru the start up process and run for a few feet, but then die again. When I throw the caboose on the same track it will light up like it is suppose to. I built a small section of track(4 pieces long), and it will run, but ve

Is This The End Of Caboose Hobbies?
Has anyone checked the site lately? Doesn't seem good and something sad that will affect many.

Vallejo Paint or Acrylic Paint and the Chesapeake & Ohio
So I model the C&O in HO in the late summer early fall of 1943, in the New River Gorge. As part of this I model Quinnimont WV. As such i have a lot of C&O buildings most of which are laser cut kits (thanks BTS) the issue is they all need to be painted in the C&O triple grey paint scheme. Featuring three grey colors all in the green grey range. I have back burnered the paint for a while now but it is holding me up.
