Cluttered Workbenches

What do you do when you can't seem to get two workbenches cleared?

close coupling

I have two Proto 1000 f units. How do I close couple them to more protypical?

As yet un-named ATSF inglenook

Well, I think it is time I start building again, as Tilley Yard South celebrates its 2nd birthday this month.

Anet A8 3D printer

Hi gang,

A couple of weeks ago, after trawling youtube for 3D printer reviews, i slipped, fell and banged my head right into the 'order 3D printer' key on the keyboard.

FEDEX claims they will deliver the beast on wedensday. Exiting times! I feel a need to dust off my CAD skills!

Things I intend to 'print':

Vaporizers?

So I had the tv on in the background while I worked on my layout, when all the sudden a commercial for vaporizers came on. It got me wondering, is it possible to put vapor pens filled with water into an HO scale smokestack and have a working smokestack? I've searched on the internet but the vaporizers are either way too big or don't hold a whole lot of liquid. Has anyone else made working smoke stacks with maybe a different method or have any idea on how to make the vaporizer method work? Thanks.

Freelancing

My current plans are to build an HO scale industrial switching layout on an 8x8 foot "L" 16-18 inches deep. It will be loosely based on the Peterson Industrial Depot in Tooele, Utah. This is the site of a former United States Army depot. One of the major industries at the depot is Rocky Mountain Railcar (RMR) which also provides rail service for the depot.

First visit to the Amherst Show

i made my first visit to the Amherst Show today.  It was overwhelming, but I had a great time.

How overwhelming?  Well, I almost missed a whole building!  And I lacked the stamina really to do justice to any of the buildings or categories of vendors.  I took my wife and a tech-savvy-but-non-model-railroad friend, and it was great to be able to show how new technologies and materials are energizing the hobby.

Die Cutting Machines

I haven't had my die cutting machine all that long and I haven't done a huge amount of experimenting yet... So far I've only been using it to make palm leaves but I can tell you now that it does an absolutely fantastic job of making palm leaves!

Compared to making hand made palm trees using a die cutting machine greatly cuts down on time and effort given that actually making the palm leaves is probably the hardest part.

Looking for Atlanta area hobby shops

I expect to be in Atlanta next weekend, and if all goes well, should have a chance to hit a hobby store or two.  Are there any that often carry older stuff, either used or new oldstock? (Current stuff is easy enough to get, but the old stuff is often full of surprises.)

Thanks!

Weekly Photo Fun - 1/27 through 2/2/17

Starting it off for the week with a picture of downtown Hoovertown - a work in process.  Regarding the bathrooms in the park:

Growing up in Kentucky I traveled through many small towns that had town squares / parks in the center.  Most of them had bathrooms (outhouse or flush toilets) in their parks.  Most all of the merchants surrounding the parks had signs that said "Bathrooms for customers only" or something similar.
