Ops sessions using multiple ProtoThrottles

Below are some random photos and a very short video showing multiple ProtoThrottles being used in operating sessions on Joe Atkinson's Iowa Interstate layout and Tim Dickinson's Burlington Northern layout – both beautiful layouts…

2018 National Train Show, Day 3 - finishing up the manufacturer's photos

The Day 2-3 thread is getting a bit long, so I'm going to start another one here - We've got a bit of Kato, Hunterline, Micro-Trains, and finish up with the Jacksonville Terminal Company.

T-shirt vendor at National Train Show

For anyone who was at the NTS this past weekend, does anyone know the name of the t-shirt vendor who was along the outside of one of the far ends?

They had a large variety of railroad-specific shirts that were very good quality. They also had a very large stock of railroad-specific drink coasters.

Thanks.

2018 National Train Show, Day 2/3 - off to catch photos of everything.

By my count I took at least 1089 photos in the past two or three days. It may take awhile for me to edit them all down.

What's on your workbench - Aug 2018

With all the talk of Chinese factory closings, it maybe time to get back to the hobbies roots, at least as I remember it as building things especially kits.  I just finished a vintage Campbell kit.(probably 50 years old) See  attached photos

Help requested Proto 2000 2-8-8-2

Hi, I'm looking for some assistance on how to disconnect the tender from the engine on a P2000 2-8-8-2.
I am not used to steam locos and need to disconnect the tender to pack it back in its box for shipping. I have disconected the wiring loom plug but can't figure out how to separate the tender.

One post I saw said that they simply pull apart - is this correct?
Thanks from the guy feeling a bit like a dunce........

2018 National Train Show, Day 2 - a bit more polish

Okay, it's already 9:40pm here, so I will only be posting a fraction of the photos I took today. I don't actually know what the total was. Well over 450.

The photos I'm going to post are those from what I call the "Studio Shots" - this is where I go out, grab new products and bring them back to my ad hoc photo studio (white backdrop, table, two mono-light/flashes w/umbrellas).

You've already seen the ScaleTrains.com photos, here are more of products from Athearn, Atlas, North American Railcar/Pacific Western Rail Systems, and Walthers.

Old Stuff, suggestions on what to do with it?

I've been out of HO now for almost 15 years and model exclusively in large scale, but I'm wondering what do I do with all my old HO scale stuff from when I was a kid? Also in this collection is some stuff from my grandpa's collection from the 60's. 90% of the stuff is old Blue Box kits, weathered by a 10 year old kid, and some old Walthers building kits again, assembled by a 10 year old...

Custom Steam Engine using a TYCO 2-8-0 frame - where to start?

Hi, all, I'm hoping that I might be able to find some help here, but essentially I have a dissassembled (or rather 'neatly exploded' I suppose) TYCO Chattanooga Choo Choo, tender drive, that I want to use as the base for a complete overhaul.
