Better accessibility on the new forum (or anywhere)
One of the concerns expressed recently on the new forum was that the colors make it hard for vision-impared people to see and read it. Muted grays and small fonts ...
New forum ready for review again!
Okay, the new forum is ready for review again! (it's been unlocked)
I've already found a few small glitches, but go have a look for yourself:
Update on the MRH forum move
Here's the latest on the MRH Forum move as of October 25th, 2021.
The developers have finished correcting the problems in the previous "failed" move attempt, along with a couple of enhancements I requested.
I have also identified 69,000 out-of-time-sequence posts across 5000 threads and built a new "smart" process to correct those. Spot checking shows it's done a pretty decent job. There still might be a few posts out of time order, but I'd say we're 99% of the way there.
Forum upgrade latest news
Here's an update from the developers on the failed forum upgrade attempt we made the weekend of Sept 25-26.
Site certificate expired error - FIXED
Unfortunately, our monthly SSL certificate generate has failed and so our certificate has expired. We're working with our hosting provider to get the certificate generate fixed ... in the meantime, the site is still safe, all that's wrong is the certificate has expired.
This has been fixed ... you may have to clear your browser cache to get it to stop complaining about the certificate, however.
Okay, timestamps fix run
Okay, I have run the automated time stamp fix on here.
Basically, if the timestamp sequence did not match the comment id sequence (which is how this forum orders posts), then I forced the timestamp on the post to be the timestamp of the previous post plus 1 second.
So those of you who have been concerned about out-of-sequence posts over on the new forum (which orders posts strictly by the authoring timestamp), then please go have a look at the threads that concerned you and check that the date and time under the post title is between the post above and below it.
Conversion retry - also failed
The latest test conversion over on the new forum also failed, so we need to back up and do some more testing for a few weeks.
