Small Detail Parts for Park Scene

Presently trying to finish up a park or playground scene in HO and was trying to find some small detail parts. Anyone know where I can get a small airplane to simulate an R/C plane? The closest thing I could find in Walthers was something listed from Alloy Forms as a Brass Airplane Hood Ornament, but of course no picture and no pic on the company website.

Building from a painting?

I'm wanting to try something really ambitious (at least for me).  I want to try to recreate in N scale Norman Rockwell's "Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas" for an Ntrak module.  I have permission from the Norman Rockwell Foundation to try, but I've never tried to scratchbuild from a photo or in this case - a painting.

Anyone have some suggestions?

Risers and Slopes

I am currently Making a new train set layout and I have 2 sets of 4% risers and 1" Risers. I want to have a way to include bridges so i can make a river flow through a part of my layout. I still dont know if the Bridges need to have a 0% slope or 4% slope on the risers. I am running two tracks one 4% and one 0% . Please give me suggestions and tips! thanks!

Cornhill & Atherton - "The Blob"

This may look a little odd ..................

The Cornhill & Atherton is a double deck RR in 11' x 9' - so space is tight.

The Helix takes up a lot of room, so to avoid losing valuable real estate, Atherton yard sits on top of the Helix.
Disguising a helix is difficult unless you have a lot of space to mold some kind of mountain around it.

The bit of scenery below (nicknamed "The Blob" for now) is intended to try to convey a sense of a mountain top in a very very small amount of space.

Breaker Breaker (Anthracite Breaker) - Pictures Repaired

In addition to my rolling stock projects, I'm working on kitbashing an anthracite breaker from some Walthers New River Mining kits.  Like many later breakers, mine will be loads in (mine run coal) and loads out (sized, processed coal).

Photos to follow, when it looks like something more then a pile of parts.

Modeling More Water on the 8th Sub

Since completing the Cedar Creek scene http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/13720 , I've worked on some additional watercourses.  Cedar creek used epoxy resin, while these don't.  I like injecting some variety.

How do YOU model fall corn fields??

Hi,

Sorry it's been a while!

I'm a huge fan of fall and plan to have my layout and modules set in that season right around color and harvest peak. One of the first challenges that springs to mind is how to realistically model dried corn still standing in the field ready for harvest. I would like to try my hand at modeling this myself rather than purchase commercial ones that can add up fast when you plant a lot of rows.

So, I would love to hear everyone's technique on how to do this!
