SICK of (working on) Hoovertown! - but it's finally in place

Man, am I sick of working on Hoovertown.  Thank goodness that it's finally in place as "Level 2" scenery!  I've made the module removable so that I can upgrade the area (if I ever get around to it).

This first shot shows all of the buildings and I hope to replace one day with scratch built structures.  There will be a warehouse in the foreground.  The big hole is where I will mount the light controllers so I can adjust the light levels.  It will be covered with scenery.

Scratchbuilding main station for the layout

Hi!

I ordered drawings from the country architechture drawing archives and got started on the main station. It was teared down in 1970. I´m modelling the "Tullinge Station" as it looked between the years 1954 to 1963.

Photo Backdrop Installation on Sectional Layout

I'll be installing the photo backdrops on my sectional layout soon and was wondering what the best way to install them is in order to minimize the appearance of a line at the joints. I intend to elicit the help of my wife to do the 'clamp and roll while spraying the back with 3M adhesive spray' method of installation (after test fitting).

The photo backdrop print lengths will make them overlap the joints.

Should I:

a. Install complete prints and then cut with a knife along the joint; or

b. Cut and then install?

How to Model Static Grass Tufts.

This week I'm making static grass tufts.

I find it easier to do it in place most times now.

Cutting Building in Half

This is a building that is part of a 3 structure mill complex. On my last layout it worked really well in it's full size state. Not anymore! So what is the best way to cut it in half length ways. You can see the part of the right side that is missing windows and has no weathering. I want to cut it between the weathered and non weathered sides on both ends of the building. I'm thinking either by hand using a small x-acto saw or with a dremel tol and cut off disc on slow speed.

Yet another turntable

Been a long time coming, with a generous helping of procrastination, but at last I can turn an engine

Highway Bridge Construction Techniques - 1940's timeline

Hey All,

I'm getting to a point where I will be starting some scenery work on my HOn3 empire, specifically at my Chama River bridge area.  I will be 'creating' a scene where the Highway 17 road bridge will actually be near the D&RGW Chama River bridge.  I thought that this might be nice to incorporate a different scene to the layout.
