Scenery - Structures

Which Walthers Kit(s) are these sprues from?

Wondering if anyone can identify these that I got as part of a bunch of misc. parts.  There are some ladders, maybe piping, bulk commodity elevatory or something.  Thanks.

Cheap paint option for painting foam board base?

I am getting ready to paint the surface of my foam board (2" Foamular) and came across this paint on Walmart's website. It is labeled as interior latex so that should be a cheap option to coat the board right before scenery?

Deck Plate Girder Bridge

I am modeling a large deck plate girder bridge on my HO scale layout based on a prototype located on the former C&O. The girders for this bridge are huge – probably 12-ft deep and have a span of somewhere in the 100-ft range. I haven't been able to find any kits in HO scale that are anywhere near this big, so I'm turning my thoughts toward scratchbuilding it.

That led me to wondering if I could start with O scale girders. I found these O scale resin girders from Scenery Express which seem to be a good fit dimensionally...

Scratch bridge building

A recent purchase provided me with an bridge shaped packing piece of polystyrene, I guess in the US it is styrofoam.

We had an old back scrubber which needed replacing.  This was composed of wooden nodules which I removed before throwing the rest of the scrubber away.  I had 38 nodules and needed to complete the length of the proposed bridge.

I bought some plate girders and with some plaster soaked bandage I had enough to start.

It's Done! Scratchbuilding a Bakery Complex (lots of photos)

Progress is coming along on the Burbank Branch with a new scratch build, this time of the Oroweat Bakery that was once active in the San Fernando Valley. This build is my modern take on the actual buildings, and while I had previously built the same structures to be near identical to the prototype, I wanted something that filled out the space a bit better. Without further ado...

Lighting options...

Having fun playing with lighting and the fact that many of my structures have yet to be fixed in place... www.petercgraham.com

Stewart/Tomar single track sanding tower (SP-102)

Purchased a Stewart/Tomar Sanding Tower couple years ago.  Having trouble figuring out how the sand pipes connect to the bottom of the tank.  Anyone built one of these that can post some photos of that attachment?

Backdrop approach for a small branch line

I’ve been working on an approach for my backdrop and was planning to practice painting techniques for clouds and terrain. At the same time I’ve been working on a children’s book with a talented local illustrator over the last several months and she graciously offered her talent to create my backdrop. Incredible!

Nevada city fire station

Hi all!
I´m starting a new project...

A really old kit that I bought a while back.
It´s going to be fun to build a really old craftsman kit. Printed cardboard, some stripwood and a lot of instructions....
