Scenery - Structures
Stuck in a mental tug-o-war...
So I am currently modeling a protolanced Pacific Electric branch based on the Santa Monica Airline just west of Los Angeles. I live in Casa Grande, AZ, 40 miles south of Phoenix.
I originally started a layout based on the area that I live in, set in the 1980's, but I have backdated my layout to the 1950's and moved it 400 miles west to the Pacific Coast.

Bethlehem Steel coal stacker
I came across this interesting picture of a coal/coke stacker. The picture is posted on Facebook in the Steel Mill Groups. I found it interesting. This could be built as a diorama display. My interest in it would be to animate it with a connected rotary dumper. The dumper would dump coal/coke onto the lower conveyor and then the stacker would pile it up in a long line pile. The question is, how does the coal/coke get onto the incline conveyor from the bottom conveyor that runs along underneath. The mechanism is to the right just out of the picture.
O scale structure builds - card, plastic, wood - the cheaper the better!
Hi everyone.
I am currently working on a few layout builds in O and On30 scales, and have been building, scratchbuilding, and kitbashing structures to go with them.
Rather than spread the builds out over multiple layout threads, I thought I'd create a single thread for those interested in seeing what I've been working on.
I mostly work in wood, foamcore and cardstock, with some plastic kits and parts as well.
Best paint primer for resin?
I just got my first resin building. I want to use Pan Pastells and Dr Ben's weathering stains on it. What primer should I use?
Blayne.
Moderator note: Since "Primer" has many possible different meanings (such as a primer on track planning) we updated your subject to be more specific so you're more likely to get the answer you're looking for.
Mid-Century Modern for the Transition Era
Mid-century modern architecture is rarely seen on transition-era layouts representing Western US railroads, even though it was widespread in places like Los Angeles, northern California, Arizona and New Mexico. Few kit structures are available, and almost none for industries. On my workbench this month is a kitbash of one of the few kits in mass production, Walthers' "Modern Brick Santa Fe Station," based on a Hutchinson, Kansas prototype; it's becoming a California aircraft parts factory.

Following posts will have pictures of my build of Railroad Kit's Dannen Feeds as modified to be a prototype based but freelance ShurGain Feeds-n-Needs.
Details West grade crossing wiring
I’m looking for someone who can wire up the Details West CS-913 Grade Crossing Signal With LED's
if anyone knows someone who will do the wiring for a fee please let me know. The wiring is to small and hard for my skill level right now but would like to get some on my layout.
Scratchbuilt rotary dumper in HO (TMI and long)
Once upon a time, long ago and far away, an impulse buy of a E&C Bethgon started me on a slightly unintentional journey to model a coal train. I model the Burlington Northern in 1995 so it made sense although there wasn't a lot of coal in the area I model, the PNW. There were PGEX, "the Rose Trains" to PGE's facilty at Boardman, OR. BN's experimental Trough Train delivered coal to the steam plant at Centralia, WA and various trains unloaded at Robert's Bank, BC, for export.
Scenary
Was looking through YouTube, mainly lookign for ideas, as you do.
Came across this user. Yes it is modern era, and most people on here prefer Steam. But his rockwork is outstanding IMO
