In the wake of Carstens closing ...

We're never thrilled to see a major hobby institution like Carstens close their doors, and we do hope the discussions about the future of RMC and the other magazine titles go well. It's just not good for the hobby to see such a major publisher go under.

This all said, we'd like to make the best of a bad situation in terms of what's best for the modeler.

We're starting to get emails from modelers wondering what's going to happen to their favorite RMC authors going forward.

Reader's Rating of MRH Articles

Is there any way for the user to see the rating statistics of various articles?  Seeing an article received a rating of 5 stars is pretty useless unless you know how many folks rated it.  One person (or relatively few) giving an article 5 stars can not be compared with hundreds of folks giving an article an average rating of 4.5 stars.

Portrait Version

I had been hesitant to try the portrait version on my 7" tablet. I decided to give it a try and I am very impressed with the layout and how it displays. I was concerned that the text would be too small but it is just right for these tired eyes. I now can take MRH to the couch (and to the other seat I often occupy) instead of being chained to my monitor on my desk. Just another way MRH gets better and better for me.

Taking the plunge to digital only

I've been a faithful subscriber to MR and RMC ever since 1967.  Just got the bill to renew both and had to admit that I get just as much out of MRH on my Samsung Tablet as I do out of the paper mags.  So goodbye paper.

MRH on Apple Newstand

Prior to getting my IPad, I downloaded each issue of MRH into a folder in my PC. Each year I woul Cretan a new folder. Having now had an IPad for sometime, I have downloaded a few versions of MRH on the IPad but seem stuck with having it as a new tab in Safari.
Am I missing something here as in my view it would be really neat if I could put each issue into the Apple Newstand App.

Current Issue

Where does one get the current issue - August 2014.  This has happened before.  There are posts here about items in the magazine, yet clicking on "get current issue"  brings up link to the July issue.  Any hint on really being able to get the current issue?  Am I missing something to click on?

Is MRH elitist?

We lurk on other model railroading forums and monitor what others are saying about MRH.

One thing that's come out lately is that MRH has become increasingly elitist.

I for one, never want to just blow off critical comments. Yes, attaboy's are nice, but it's the critical comments that give you the opportunity to do better.

So ... assuming the critical comment is correct and we have become somewhat elitist, then in what ways is that so? And how might we correct that?

Bonus Extras Downloading

Is it possible to make a bittorrent download for files over say 50MB?

I'm always having issues with my large downloads from MRH to be corrupted and it always seems to be files over roughly 20MB.

Thanks

Dale
