Locos and rolling stock

New to Site - my old iron

Hello! Getting back into the hobby after having all my stuff in boxes for 20 years: feel like Rip Van Winkle!

Adding weight to Walther's ADM tank car.

First off this post is not intended to start a discussion on whether the NMRA weight standards for rolling stock is obsolete or not, and I would consider any discussion going in that direction to be deliberately off topic.

Bachmann 2-8-4 Hvy Mtn drive slipping

I was looking at a Bachmann 2-8-4 heavy mountain on a freinds layout that won't pull 3 passenger cars and has a loud grinding/whining sound when stalled. On its own, it runs quietly, just has no pulling power. The parts list blow-ups don't help other than showing the assembly.  It sounds to me to be the belt drive between the motor and the drive gears. Has anyone experienced this and possibly have a fix?

UP Loco's

Hi there,I know this maybe a silly question but I have some Union Pacific N-scale GP 40's with Green on top of the short hood,Can anyone tell me why as i have some other UP locos with just the grey on top of the Short Hood. Was it a early paint scheme they went thru or is it to indicate something else.

Thanks

Phil.

Searching for HO armored trains

I am looking for kits for armored trains, or any information about anyone who has kitbashed one.  Anyone have ideas or sites to check?

Passenger consists

Passenger consists.

I am in the process of putting together a modest ( money sucking barely alive ) passenger train for my transition era pike. I am looking for some thoughts on what sequence to run the cars in. Obviously the baggage and RPO are head end cars and an observation would bring up the rear. But what about diners coaches and pullman sleepers. Any thoughts about how these would normally be arranged.   Thanks.

Speed matching an Atlas with DCC/QSI Sound with a TCS T1 Non sound Athearn...

Hi All,

I recently purchased a GE Dash 8-40C with DCC/QSI Sound.  I have been unsuccessfully trying to speed match it with a Athearn RTR SD 50 with a TCS T1 decoder.

I have been using Decoder Pro and trying all manner of configurations with both speed tables and changing CV's, clearly I am missing something rather big, I have searched high and low on the internet and have been unable to find the right how to that will allow me to match them.
