Locos and rolling stock

narrow gauge

Last October I've bought the Jonan diesel "Little Giant". It was painted.

Now I've repaired a few parts, added decal and some weathering. I've also installed light and an old Kühn decoder. Now I can save some money for another decoder, perhaps a sound decoder.

Freight Cars - what should I be using?

My primary railroad is the Colorado & Northwestern RR, a Colorado turn of the century (1906) shelf layout. For this period I have all the research material I need.

What I need help with is the new bug. I recently stumbled across a picture of a Santa Fe GP7 threading its way between two curved buildings a "brick canyon" so to speak. So not only did I acquire the urban scenary bug but a more modern one as well.

Bachmann's latest version of the 2-6-6-2 Is a real beaut

After a adnormally long wait received my Latest DCC/Sound equipped articulated from the good folks at Bachmann.

Now I must admit to not being to crazy abouot the 1st H4 with its whiteside wall tires and standard USRA tender but this new one with starting from the front.

Dual compound air pumps

Large compound cylinders

blacken drivers

slightly different cab

4 wheeled vanderbilt tender

And its wealth of fine detail has me all agog , and all at a reasonable price.

Adjusting Wheel Gauge

I have one of the first releases of the Kato N-Scale SD-40, early 1990's I think.  Until recently I didn't have a layout to run it on.  When I did run it the other day, it had problems going through my Fast Tracks turnouts.  I checked the turnouts with the NMRA gauge and, although it was a bit tight, all of the turnout areas passed.  I then checked the wheel gauge on the loco and all of the wheels are out of gauge on the narrow side i.e.

Opinions on Bowser Locos

I've never owned a Bowser product, but I've always assumed they've been good products.  I got a notification of their advance order for C-630M's and I thought I might pick one up for potential use on a switching layout.  Any thoughts from those that own Bowser locos?

My apologies to all for starting another thread on this subject, but a search of the threads didn't mention the specific problem I have come upon.

Need advice on Trucks for turn of the century HO scale

Hi,

I am buying a Roundhouse 36' "old time" boxcar kit. I need to get trucks and couplers. I am not worried about couplers right now because I don't have any other cars to couple to.. but want some advice on buying HO trucks. This is completely outside my element. I have one advantage in this.. by having no existing fleet I am free to start with whatever standard I choose to put in place.

I presume I will need arch bar or andrews trucks.

Can I get a recommendation on a good quality prototypical truck I can equip my kit with?

Thanks,
