HO Alco C415 model to be built info needed.
Hi everyone I'm working with a premier model manufacturer to make an HO model of the Alco C415. I need roof shots to see if there are any differences between road names. I also need to know if the Hi Ad trucks are the same wheel base as the ones used under the C430 or a shorter version. You can post pix here or message me. We are off to measure the Buffalo Southern loco next week. Thanks! Sincerely, Roger Kujawa
Train Set or individual pieces?
I am looking to get back into the hobby. I would like to get some of the new n scale equipment with kadee style couplers. Is it worth looking at a "train set" for decent running equipment? Should I avoid these? I'm thinking of a n scale CSX branch line in a spare bedroom on a small budget. Obviously, no brass! Any help is appreciated.
Functionnal Sunbeam Headlight.
Hello, I recently purchased an HO Canadian National Athearn Rotary snowplow with tender.
The rotary blade works on DC only, I want to install a Digitrax DH 126 D decoder so I can control the speed of the blade and also being able to turn it off. I also want to install a working sunbeam headlight.
What would you recommend, for the sunbeam itself and also the bulb.
Thank you.

Tyco flat car kitbash ?
Gang,
In a box of junk I bought at a train show, I found 3-4 old TYCO pipe load flat cars. The bodies were the only thing in the box. Just as I was about to throw them in the garbage, I gave them a good look and tried to figure out what else they could be used for. I thought about sanding off the deck but that would be A LOT of work... Not to mention the depression to hold the pipe seems to be deeper than the deck itself.
Aviation Fuel Tank Cars?
I'm trying to find a good HO scale model to represent the types of tank cars used to transport aviation fuel. My modeled prototype had a facility where fuel was unloaded from ships into tank cars for transport to a local military instillation. The problem is I have no idea what exact type of tank car would typically be used in such a service and whether models are available. I've included a video below showing my prototype in the mid 1990's with a focus on the aviation fuel operation. If anyone has any ideas as to the type of car and available models I'm all ears.
replacing motor shafts on can motors ???
Does anyone out there know how or even know if it is possible to replace a shaft on a can motor? I went to a train show and found a box of junk. In that box was a mashima motor which runs fine. One of the motor shafts was cut and will not hold a flywheel. Does anyone know if I can replace the shaft ? Are there any blogs or videos showing how this is done?
Thanks.
San Antonio & Aransas Pass Circa 1900 Maintenance of Way Train - HO Scale
Hey Y'all, |
My Ho scale P2K Sw9/1200 after installing a Digitrax Decoder in it
This is My Proto 2000 SW9/1200 Diesel locomotive. I bought it in Union Pacific Colors, Stripped it and painted it for My Great Western Railroad. A Colorado Sugar Beet Railroad. It's been sitting on a shelf for years because I didn't have DCC in it. Well a couple weeks ago I started the Conversion. It went fairly well. I needed to remove the front weight to make room for the speaker I used.Everything went in but it is a really tight fit. I received some of the Decals Today for the Great Western Railroad lettering on the Hood. Anyway She Runs Very Nice and even at Slow Speed.
Proto 1000 Budd RDC Amtrak bodycolor variations
Attempting to model the Amtrak Blackhawk (RDC) era. I have Proto1000 road # 35 + 36. There body colors are the same. I've read that road # 12 + 20 have a different body color. Here is my question, does anyone out there have both body colors that they can post a picture to actually show how much of a difference there is, if any ?? All I need is one more RDC to complete a set. If the color is that different the one could be placed in the middle. My other choice would be get another #35 or 36. With those tiny numbers on the cars no one would notice anyway.
