Spacing between telegraph poles

Does anyone know the prototypical spacing used between telegraph poles and did it vary at all depending on where in the US or Canada the rail was located or the actual rail line it was on? Would like to plant the poles using a reasonable approximation but couldn't find any actual info on spacing.  Thanks

Flowering Static Grass Tufts

Hey all,

It's good to be back, I've been quite busy over the last couple of weeks with work but now I have some free time so I put together another short video.

This one is a how-to guide on making your own flowering static grass tufts:

It's quite a short video but I think there is some good info there. These will add a lot of detail to a street scene with houses or even a large meadow.

How rare would it be in the 1950s for there to be an abandoned railroad bridge

I have some assembled Central Valley Model Wworks  Single Track Truss Bridge.  From what I have read so far the prototype for this bridge had a very low tonnage rating (I'm not a Structural Engineer so I am going off of what others have written or said in the past to me).  I thought I could use them for my coal branch, but I want to use 2-6-6-2's on the branch and don't want the hassle of changing over from those to say double headed Mike's or the like.  So I was thinking, since i don't want to try to modify them, and they don't seem to fit in any

What kits to use to scratchbuild Deck Truss Bridge

I would like to include a Deck Truss Bridge.  There are several pictures on the internet, but I can not find plans for any.  I guess my first question should be, does anyone have any ideas where I might find a selection of plans for different deck truss bridges.  I have a general idea of what I would like, but having plans are important.  I don't recall seeing actual plans in the MR Articles back in the 1990s.

Tunnel Portal and Lining on the PC&N Ry

I have started to scratch build a short timber tunnel lining with portals. This is really a selective compression of a tunnel and is being used to transition from one scene to the next through the center backdrop. Once completed I can finished the tree covered ridge it goes through.

Underground mining scene to slot into fascia

My boys and I are building a small N scale layout that features a mining area. To take a break from wiring tedium we built a small subterranean mining diorama that will slot into the side of the fascia - just underneath the mining area. I like the concept of rewarding viewers with additional detail for those who look more closely. I have added the video entry below. If you like it please subscribe to our channel. Cheers, Rowan.

"Caldwell Boulevard"...bringing a photo diorama to life

"Caldwell Boulevard" is the name I christened upon my latest scenic diorama that will be used for photographing some of my monthly weathered model projects for The Weathering Shop. The name "Caldwell" for this project happened to come from a jazz artists last name. I was trying to imagine names for this diorama when it was nearing completion. I just so happened to be listening to smooth jazz artist Bobby Caldwell when the final stages of production of this diorama were coming about. I thought to myself that "Caldwell Boulevard" sounded legitimate.

Mulligan's Excavating

Everybody knows the story of “Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel” and how Mary Anne got stuck in the cellar of the Popperville town hall. Not too many people know what happened 75 years later when the town of Popperville built a new town hall. The old building was scheduled for demolition and the town was going to sell Mary Anne for scrap. Hearing this Mike Mulligan’s grandson, Bill set out to rescue Mary Anne.
