Photo Etching ladders: metal thickness experiences?
I'm researching the creation of some N&W CPL signals in HO scale. I looked at many companies and it seems that not one of them does actual N&W CPL signals nor PRR CPL signals of which the N&W ones are derivatives of, or if they do they won't have the dual mast version on a single supported post platform I'd need.

A picture of the prototype of the famous "Jack Work Coal Mine"
I've been doing quite a bit of research into the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver Island B.C. lately and I came upon this picture of "White Rapids Mine" the prototype cited by the late great Jack Work in his famous MR article series that ran from Oct. to Dec. of 1959. Thought I'd post it here for those who may not have seen it...

Working Gantry Crane
For the last year I've been working on this Gantry Crane, and finally got it working after waiting for the arrival of the radio gear. Still a lot to do on it but I'm happy with the results.
Paper Mills anyone?
I couldn't find any other topics dedicated to building Paper Mills but feel free to delete this thread and point me in the right direction if one already exists. I'm currently building a switching layout centered around a Paper Mill for which I've posted more details on my blog page.
Before I get into any more specifics however, I wanted to see if there are many others who have modelled or would like to model paper/pulp industry structures. If so I'd live to hear about it!
Metallic black paint
What difference is there, if any, between Artiste acrylic metallic black; FolkArt acrylic metallic sequin black; and Ceramcoat acrylic metallic black pearl?

Question about n-scale Atlas C55 Turnouts, Controls, and Ballasting
Okay folks, I have been pouring over the Internet and really haven't found all the answers to my questions regarding using Atlas N-Scale Code 55 turnouts with either a Tortoise or Walthers' Servo or any other under-the-table-with-a-throw-wire type device.
First off I apologize if there is a duplicate post somewhere but I sure haven't found it.
bushes anyone?
I saw this pic in a forum.
I like the dark green one, but want to make others.
Do you guys think that it is sisal fibers with noch dark green leaves?
Pine tree bark advice
I am on a facebook group and this guy really models some nice trees. While I am eating on his reply, I was hoping someone else knew how to do this. I can't figure out how he gets his bark on the pine trees?
Acrylic over enamel? I can't tell if it is paint or texture. I wan't to know because my 2-4mm static grass is dropping in the post on Friday and I want to experiment this weekend.
Cheers!

Scratchbuilding a receiving bay extension for my grain elevator - advice appreciated!
My layout has been an ongoing lesson in both model railroading as well as the various details about how parts of the real world function - and the latest lesson is that my grain elevator is effectively backwards to what it should actually look like.
For clarification, this is my grain elevator: the Walther's Cornerstone Prairie Star Grain Elevator.
