Track and electrical/DCC

DCC++
Hello All, recently I was watching DCC on an Arduino videos.
Just have one question. Gregg Berman in his description of the Motor Shield talks about the L298 Motor Shield.
When I purchased my Kuman Kit on Amazon Canada, I did not notice, but it came with an L293D motor shield.
I was wondering what the differences are and if this would in fact work for DCC++.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
LokSounds and LokPilots
I recently purchased my first sound equipped locomotive with LokSound. I like it very much and I am considering converting my fleet to ESU decoders. I had considered mixing Loksounds and LokPilots in my consists to save money but I have read that doesn't work very well. Is it possible to mix these two types in a consist without too much trouble?

Looking for Quiet 12V Power Supplies for LED Lighting
Hi all,
A few months ago I purchased a 300 watt 12-volt power supply for my strip lighting from Amazon. Functionally, it's fine - it does what it's supposed to do and was inexpensive. However, the cooling fan is surprisingly loud - I think this is an issue of an overdriven, too-small fan. And that is probably related to that great price. I can't imagine having multiples of these.
dcc numbers 64, and 141 meen
I have a Kato HO GE A44CW it has a sound decoder in it manufacture is 141 and 64. Witch number is the manufacture? and the rear head lamp is inop. is there a CV # that I'm missing? I have a NCE DCC controller throttle cab.

Mobile display track power
I'm finishing a static shelf display for locos and boxcars as a way to store and view when not in use, that has a toggle for track power. I've designed it to also be mobile for outdoor natural lighting shots. As a shelf display I'm running track power to my main bus, but how do I go about getting my DCC-equiped locos to have 'lights on' for an outdoor photo? If I use a DC power pack, do I have to change the loco's CV setting for DC? Is there another way- in case I forget?
Wiring Diagram for Walthers Life Like Proto 1000 RS2
Hi there,
As the title implies, I am looking for a wiring diagram for a Proto 1000 RS2. Anyone know where to find one, or can you identify the terminals on the picture attached?
Thanks,
Denis.
Losing power in a DC reversing loop
I have a reverse loop run by an Atlas controller (yes we still exist!) my old Athearn Blue box engines slow down tremendously in that section, while my newer Atlases run fine. I’m thinking upgrading to a more powerful power pack but am I missing something here? Thanks!
Alternative to 3M Suitcase Splices?
For some time the 3M 558 suitcase connectors have been preferred by many for making splices between large gauge bus wires and small gauge track drops.
There is another product that in has several advantages and is the same price. The product is the Wago 221-413 LEVER-NUTS.
These can be obtained on Ebay in lots of 50 for less than 40 cents each.
digitrax UT4D throttle failure
My 5 year old grandchild was running a train with a UT4D when the speed changed to a crawl and the throttle had no ability to speed up or stop the loco. The only way to stop was to move directional toggle to neutral. Forward/reverse worked fine. I have checked loco out with other throttles and it works perfectly. Any ideas? Could the little fellow done something without realizing it? Hoping I won't have to send it to Digitrax for repair. Scotchman

Function Mapping?
I have a prodigy express DCC system. I bought it as a starter set a few years ago. My main dislike is that I only have access to 15 of the 28 functions. Is it difficult to remap functions? Is it even possible? I thought about buying a new system...but thats like $300 or more. I also thought I could upgrade to the prodigy advanced handset. That would give me access to 25 functions(I think). My layout may grow, but I think I would probably only ever run two or three locomotives on it...so the upgrade may not be needed.
