Proper Insulation Joints on Peco Crossovers

Proper Insulation Joints on Peco Crossovers

I'm using almost exclusively Peco Code100 turnouts on my layout. They are almost all Insula-frog turnouts, and being that it is a DCC layout I will be following the recommended practice of insulating both diverging frog tracks,...to prevent wheel shorting at the frog.

I few questions arose in my mind when it came to using the Peco turnouts in a crossover situation. I'd like to confirm my thoughts before I proceed.

Safety/Guard Rails on Bridge Tracks

Yesterday I was looking at my track inventory to determine exactly what I had for safety rail track. I had 3 long sections of a commercial produced code100 track. That will just barely cover my 3 tracks that cross my entrance way bridges. I need some more.

NCE Cab04E Radio Installation Instructions

Good day all,

I have an NCE Cab 04E and I am looking for the radio install instructions.  I have the cab and an NCE radio board.  Just not the instructions.

Yes I do have the ability to install it.  I used to be an NCE dealer and used to do the NCE Procab radio installs.  However that was over 10 years ago and I just don't remember how.

The Cab 04 is out of production and has been replaced with the Cab 06r.  I have a Cab 06r but like the Cab 04 much better.  I just don't like having to plug it in.

WiThrottle Problems — not connect when asked “acquire loco.”

I get a message “do you want to acquire this loco?”  I respond “yes”. But it does not acquire the loco.  It only happens when I am switching between one loco and another.

I am using a digitrax dcs 51 with a digitrax lnwi.  I cleared all locos out of the dcs51 throttle.

Anyone else had this problem?  Solution?

Withrottle thinks it might be the lnwi.

Life like power lock switch not working

Gang,

I have some old Lifelike power lock switches a friend gave to me. He had cut the wires on the switch machines. No problem, I'll just solder on some new wires, right?

Well, after soldering new wires on the solder pads, I couldn't get it to do a darned thing. It really is strange. It is nothing more than a cheap twin coil. Two wires with momentary contact will force the metal rod back and forth.

Sound and Motor Decoder for Kato SD90/43mac and Kato F40PH

When I first bought these 2 locos, I made a bad mistake and put in MRC decoders which have been no end of troubles.  So I want to replace them.  I am looking for some kind of a drop in decoder replacement.  Sound is important but moreso is motor control.  I run an NCE powercab -- I found the digitrax SDXN146K1E -- which looks good and digitrax is a good name -- but what I am wondering if there is something better -- I googled for Drop In decoder for Kato SD90/43MAC -- and got a hit on the digitrax one as well as some others that are not obviously sound as well as motor d

Decoder, light, speaker and stay alive installation video.

This is a very comprehensive video on a DCC upgrade by a very competent installer.  It should serve as a reference to people wondering what it would take to do a full installation as well as parts of an installation or upgrade or a good compare for the experienced.  Larry Linger is a leader in the group of people who present DCC installations and upgrades on YouTube.  I hope you learn and enjoy this and other of his presentations!

Need simple “track on” alarm.

I need s simple device that makes a sound when the track power (dcc) is on.  I have elevated gates with dead track leading up to it. When I am trouble shooting that track I want the gate open so I can go in and out of the gate easily.

Is there a way I can power a buzzer with the dcc power?

Timer and trigger for 1/2 scale grade crossing?

Are there adjustable timers and magnetic reed switches that can handle about 1A at 12V?

I have nearly completed the 1/2 size crossing signal, and thought it would be fun to trigger it when the garage door opens or closes. Just run for 10 seconds. I don't want it to keep blinking if the door stops halfway.  It needs 2 trigger points on the garage door, one near the bottom and one near the top of travel.

I tried to find ready-made timers instead of starting from scratch.

Only One Track Per Transformer

Can you only run one track per transformer, or is there a transformer that will run more than one?
