Track and electrical/DCC

DCC tools

I'm in the midst of upgrading several brass steam locomotives from straight DCC to full sound DCC with Keep Alive/CurrentKeeper devices. The Keep Alive parts are new to me -- I'm a bit late to get into the game and am excited about the possibilities -- so I cut out styrofoam sample pieces sized to match the Soundtraxx and TCS keep alive offerings (Photo 1). I use these when making my initial assessment of what can fit inside my often-compact logging steam locos. Very handy tools the avoid a lot of unnecessary keep alive device handling before installation begins.

Decoder wire

Is 30AWG wire okay for running from the decoder to the motor ? Seems a little small.

Atlas track

Has Atlas track gone by the way side?  I have been waiting two months to find Atlas track.  I am seriously thinking going to Fast Tracks and with Peco I don't understand their angle of the turnout.  I am tired of seeing Out of Stock.  I am in need of help.

Electrical wire support loops/clamps

So, over on my SP Lordsburg Construction blog, some of you may have seen that I cut slots in the bottom of my L-girder supports to act as chase-ways for electrical (bus) wire runs. I fabricated some plastic clips to hold he wires in place.

HO code 100 and Code 73 on same line?

First post. Resurrecting my layout.  Lots of code 100 from old layout I had to tear down due to move, but want to use  Code 70 in new layout in areas that are more visible.   Are there any products such as a transition track that serve as a "connection" between the two Codes?

Question on changing the horn on an Atlas C-420 with Loksound 5

I'm trying to change the default horn but can't figure out how.  Several sources say CV 48 is for the horn and bell settings but there is no CV 48 on this decoder, according to ESU.  I set up the engine into JMRI and it found the decoder with no problem but again, no CV 48 and no apparent way to change horn and bell selections.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Short circuit (of the mind)

Before my recent hiatus from working on the layout I could have sworn I had my test version of DCC++ hooked up and running and I did at one point. I remember having to go back and catch a couple of feeder drops on some spurs and gaping some frog rails on my Peco turnouts.

Different gauges for feeder wires.

I’m making a small 4x8 HO layout and using 16 gauge wire for the DCC bus.  One black, one red.  I have some wire laying around for the feeders.  Black 22 gauge and red 20 gauge.  Is it bad to use two different gauges for feeders?  Or should I go out and buy a little more of one color or the other?

Are there other players in the LCC space besides TCS and rr-cirkits

OK, just to get started, I'm in the LCC Groups.io. I generally follow LCC lightly but consistently.

So if you just want to post in here that I should go ask somewhere else, you can kindly not bother, I already know about those locations. I want to have a discussion HERE.

I'm curious, is anyone besides TCS and rr-cirkits got LCC stuff out or announced?

Wiring a Atlas 305 turntable for dcc

I have installed a 305 Atlas turntable and was hoping for some ideas on how to wire it for DCC. I have the decoder already hooked up to it to run the turntable, now just trying to figure out what to do with power to track. Instructions say it has a slip ring in it for reversing. Seen some different diagrams online one using auto reversing switch one saying it doesn't need it. New to DCC so I am looking for some help.
